Possibly a thick question but...
I see foils being used a lot in sculptures on here, can they be inflated with plain air or does everyone use helium?

Hi Stuart,

I have only used foils a few times, on top of columns I have done for weddings, and just pumped them up using a hand pump and they have been fine.
Kind regards
Kevin

Yes you would only need the helium if you wanted them to float away from a column, you can also re-use them as well.

Hey Stuart, foil balloons are the future.!!

They are very useful for centerpieces, that need to be made fast, as you have seen on here. I am considering using them also as it takes the work load to a minimum. I have found that some times i make a really nice sculpture, that took me hours to make, then i get to the party and the kid destroys it in twenty seconds. So with foils its easy, quick body with a few 260s then stick a foil head on..that's it. Keep the time consuming balloon for someone who cares!! :D

Wow what a rant..

I do foils and always combine them with pretty twisting to increase the value of coming to me. In my area quite a few people do foil balloons etc as home business and it doesn't take a huge amount of skill to blow up a foil and attach ribbon. I started doing foils to increase the number of orders I can do especially at weekends when everyone wants party decor. I was saying no to a lot of orders especially last minute orders - now I offer them a foil option which is a lot quicker to do but still has great impact :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21374134573.118920.jpg[/attachment:1kvri37p]

Twisting will always be what I love doing and what draws my customers to me but this is a good option to supplement this :)

Forgot to mention when using foils Its absolutely fine to use air :) I don't do helium at all but you need to be careful when tying the foil not to tie across the valve of the foil as they will leak. Also the large heads are quite heavy so you will need some sort of collar around the neck to hold them steady. I use a 260 with a bow on the front usually unless its Spider-Man lol x
