How much stock do you keep on hand?
« on: February 28, 2012, 04:22:06 PM »
Howdy,

I'm curious to know how much balloon stock do you keep on hand?  I buy my balloons by the color for most sizes with some exceptions and always try to have an extra bag of each in storage.  I twist as a part time business and do not have a weekly gig at the moment.  For that reason I'm not going through nearly as many balloons as many of you out there that do this for a living.

With that in mind, how much stock do you keep on hand outside of your working bag/apron?  I should mention that I do twisting exclusively...no decor...yet.   :)

Thanks,

  Michael

I keep a minimum of two colours of each size for the 160 260 and 350s plus 2 bags of each 646 and 5" round. Last count I had almost £2000 worth of balloon stock!

Ok hear goes
1 bag of every colour 160q, 260q, 350q 646q in my twisting bag plus 2 bags of each in stock
I have at least one bag of nearly every Q 5" including all the prints and many discontinued lines.
Most q 11" including prints I also have quite a lot of q 16" 24" and 36" balloons but not all of them.
most colours in  the hearts 6" & 14" all the do-nuts and geo blossoms.

I also have some link-a-loons at least one bag of most colours of the sempertex 160s 260s 360s & 656s and quite a few sempertex hearts. (am getting a bit low on sempertex will need to stock up shortly).

I also have some bsa balloons (discontinued) and I will buy bags of unusual balloons I see in any £1 or other type shop.

I also have a lot of foil balloons and bubbles.
(I have to do a stock take in April  :(  :(  (thankfully I keep a database of most balloons I have in stock)

Now wait till Pam starts her list it will take her a while.

I am not going to list all mine, sorry.. most of its decor anyway..

when it comes to twisting, I am probably not as much the I need all single colours as most people..

I am quite happy making balloons in whatever colour I have or give them a choice of what I have in my bag..

BUT my SMALL twisting stock at present has

I buy these usually in boxes of 20 bags
-------------------------------------
between 5-10 bags of vibrant mix 260qs
between 5-10 bags of carnival mix 260's
I counted yesterday 10 bags of Love heart mix 6" hearts, 4 bags of ivory 6" hearts( for brides etc)

4 bags of white 260's
4 bags of black 260's
( I buy them cos they are not in the mix's)
then
4 bags of ivory 260's
2 bags of red 260's
3 bags of pale blue 260's
2 bags of lime green 260's
1 bag of wild berry 260's
(I use them all in docor too which is why I buy them seperate)
.................................

Like Roger I have assorted 5" prints  - aliens, spider webs, assorted eyes, skulls, etc etc etc both still buyable and discountinued..
Also a few bags of 321's and geo blosoms ( when I remembe to take them out)

And a collection of 160's & 350's bought over the years for specific jobs and still waiting to be used up..

A collection of 646's - but again I tend to use them in decor

Dont ask on my 5" single colours stock - I use a lot in decor
or 11" or 16", 18" 24" 36" 39".. link-o-loons
..............................

I wasnt going to do this... YES theres lots and Yes I have to stock take them all in April..

And YES I do have too many....

Pam

I buy 90% Betallex/Sepertex and I panick if I have less than 10 bags of any 260 color on hand.
Keep in mind that I have 3 other part-time twisters, Dustin Queary, Alayna Nicole, and Alysa who do
this for a living.

I buy 90% Betallex/Sepertex.
I panick if I have less than 10 bags of any 260 color on hand.  I also buy them typically in case lots of 30 bags (50ct) at a time.
If I go lower than 4 bags of any color in 360's, I re-order, usually 20 backs of whatever color I am low.
For the 660's, I buy 10 bags at a time of Black, White, Orange, Red, Yellow, Lime Green, Peach Blush, Fuchsia and Key Lime.
I like to have 3 bags of every other color on hand at all times.   If I am placing an order, I restock that if I am short.
For hearts I panick if we go below 2 bags of Fuchsia, Red, Bubble Gum, Lilac, Turquoise, Lime, Yellow or White.
I almost had a heart attack when they discontinued Peach Blush and Toffee Hearts.  I bought every bag I could find from
the distributors over here.
I keep about 10 bags of 5 inch rounds in every popular color.   I never like to run low on white or orange.
I have about 2 to 3 bags of over 12 colors in 11" Round
I keep about 2 to 3 bags of 12" LOL in White, Key Lime Green, Red, Yellow, Royal Blue, Fuchsia and a bag of several other colors.  We use a lot of 12" LOL for twisting.  If I start doing more Decor I will need to keep more on hand.

I won't tell you the rest of stuff I keep on hand.  I am a balloon hoarder.   I admit to having Latex addiction......
