I'm looking into getting the forum updated again.
We still have the same old problem about picture re-sizing.
So will be looking into this and also if we need to move the forum to a more up to date system.
It runs on PHPBB at the moment and trying to get anyone to work on this is VERY difficult.

In the past we have had 3/4 people say they can do the work,
I pay them and then a couple of weeks later they refund me as they have no clue how the operating system works.

So fingers crossed who we are talking with at the moment will be able to help.

If anyone does know someone who is a computer wiz then please pass on details to me.

Thanks.

Have you tried looking on the official PHPBB forums? I used to use it a lot back in my gaming days (I installed it and was admin) and when I got stuck I used to go on the official forums and there were loads of help. I'd be fairly sure that there would be several people that do it professionally. Why not try dropping them a message.

Thanks for the reply, I think I have contacted two boards in the past.
Quite a few say they are experts on phpbb but have declined the work.

The last time we had the major problem, I think the pictures dis-appeared I eventually
made contact with a guy in America who certainly was an expert and sorted the problem
for us. It was difficult to make contact with him and for him to keep in touch.

He actually did not charge for the work although I did try on a few occasions to pay him.

I would be happy for him to work on the site again but I'm in contact with Peter who works
on the balloon click website for Ken Stillman.

He wants to facetime and talk things through and my webguy who runs my business websites
says we must get away form phpbb as it's an old system and very much out of date now.

He wanted me to start a new forum with a woo commerce template but I'm very unhappy
about running a new forum alongside the existing.

We surely need to merge the old site and all the posts and pictures onto a new site.
If we do not move forward I'm concerned the site will end up like BalloonHQ which
seems like it's unable to update now due to the original programmes being too old.

Please bare in mind I'm not exactly up to date with technology and half the time
not sure what I'm talking about.

If you want to call me to talk it through then please do............thanks.

I would love to offer to help Graham but I haven't touched PHPBB in the last 10 years since giving up PC gaming so I'm way out of touch with it.

When you look at their website it does seem to still be in full swing and being updated regularly and it still gets recommended https://www.1and1.co.uk/digitalguide/ho ... -software/

I think that the hiccup comes because you have modified the forums to PHPBB-SEO, if it was still on the original software it would just be a case of updating it to the latest version.

I'm really sorry I can't fix it for you, I really would if I could because I've learnt so much. I suppose the last resort would be to close this to new posts, keep it as reference and start afresh with a new one.

Is the SEO part of the site the front page/links/map and headers etc?

If so I'd be happy to loose all that if we had to so that we can update
everything and add new fresh front page and headers.

I had a look tonight at the phpbb forum and it had nearly 1500 people looking at the site so very
much a working forum.

I'm not sure what it does, I'll see if I can find out.

Has anyone tried to update the software? Which version is it on currently?

Here we go again, after having 5 people at least look at the site and as yet none
being able to work out how the forum works we are talking with a couple
who are confident they can update the forum.

We are discussing moving the forum over to "Simple Machines Forum"

I have a couple of templates so will post when I get a few minutes.
