Can you tell me -
when using a balloon belt, do you find a higher number of balloons burst than when not using one ?
the reason ( being a canny scot ), i made my own, was a proto type! using hoop n loop tape ,seems logical system.
loaded with avg 25 balloons per loop, but got a higher balloon bust count than my current system, not using belt. however i do not have movability. are bought belts any better ?

Do you have a photo of the two systems as I am not quite sure what you mean?

hi snurb,
here is my methods, my home made belt simply balloons in loops made with hoop n loop,
and my box- balloons wraped in newspaper tubes fastened with elasticbands. prob i want to move about, box limits me, with belt i found balloons burst more, think they were getting puncture by hoop n loop. but looks like system used on belts being sold.
what i was asking if i invest in a bought belt, is bursting a common problem, i know many entertainers use them.
note as i am not using belt, ive only put a few in to demonstrate.
thanks for you help.
Alistair.

I use velcro in my balloon bag and don't have a problem.  Did you take these balloons straight from your box to your belt?  If not, could these be balloons that are old or have been incorrectly stored - exposed to heat etc??

Just an observation, have you considered using clear/opaque plastic folders for your rolls?  It might add a little more of a professional look to your otherwise nice looking setup?

Hi Lisa,
thanks for your help
The balloons were new, as only been doing balloons since Aug 2011, and only loaded 25 at a time, only thing is i rolled  the belt up to store and might have unknowingly create excess pressure ??
thanks for your idea of plastic folder for tube, i have seen zip lock bags used to store ballooons, which would be ok for ocasional use. ie specials and hearts.

I use a similar setup for my balloons - It's a dollar store bucket - the balloons are wrapped in overhead projector sheets and held with elatics

We have used balloon belts in the past that I made and we did not have more poppage with those than with the balloon bags.  I think you may be correct in assuming that it may be what you are doing with the belt between gigs?  I also agree that different wrappers for your balloon box may look more professional.  We have found that binding covers made of plastic work well and are available at any office supply store.  They do not need to be clear... one other tip that works for us, we sort out balloons into packs when we receive our order and I use scrap 350's cut into bands around the packs.  ... I used to use rubber bands and I think the stress from the rubber bands around the neck of the balloons did cause more breakage.

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

 Thank you to all that replyed to my post.
I will be changing away from the newspaper. The bucket looks a great idea, in addition to my box, for when i expect to be more mobile, ( ie round tables ) and makes a good display.
