I was doing the monkey for the abc game and I didnt like the face on it.  I was in the kitchen and there was a bottle of olive oil next to me.  I thought "wonder if that would get the ink off"  well you know me, I will try anything.  It worked like a dream.  I put some on a piece of tissue and with a gentle wipe the ink was gone and the balloon looked perfect.  I even think it might have been good for the balloon.  It had a nice shine that is for sure.  So then i gave the balloon a quick wipe with a clean tissue and thought "Bet the pen won't work on it now!  Wrong.  The pen worked fine.  I had to try a few times to get the face right before i thought "That'll do!" so I must have wiped the face off at least 4 times.

So here is another thread for you all
What do you use to get the ink of a balloon when you make a mistake?

I use rubbing alcohol to remove permanent marker ink. I prefer the 91% alcohol as I think it removes more of the ink. It gets most of it off...depending on the color. I only use it when I want to snap a picture... rather than fix my art for line work.

Hi.

I spray some hair spray onto a piece of cotton wool and it also works a dream. I don't use hair spray myself so i bought the cheapest one i could find and as i said it works well. :)

Yep that is what I have used if I need to get something spot on.  I just thought it was something of a surprise that the oil worked.  That got me thinking about what everyone else uses but I guess the main thing is alchahol.  Oh and Im not sure whether to believe you or not re:personal use of hairspray.  :)

Hi Thelma.

I only use natural oils on my hair as i have a  dry scalp :) . In my opinoin hairspray should have been banned years ago. The stuff is horrible.. but i suppose so are cigarettes and they are still around.

I use anti-perspirant to remove mistakes in artwork. ( I think Shirley Ray originally gave me the tip) It works on Sharpie, expo and even paint pens. Use a cotton bud sprayed or dipped in it for small areas. The brand I use (Dove) has no alcohol so not sure what ingredient is working.
The extra bonus, my balloons never suffer from B.O!!

I recently learn'd to use deoderant to remove my mistakes.
Before that I just popped the bubble if possible and made a new one.
I think I like your idea better Thelma, I'll try it, thanks.

Thanks Thelma
You saved me, the olive oil works great. I was making a big Hello Kitty for my daughter's birthday tomorrow. I put the eye in the wrong spot. I used the olive oil and was amazed how well it worked.
so thanks again.

Great!!!  There isnt any logical reason for olive oil to work but it does and what a nice shine it leaves too!  Perhaps I should go sit inmy kitchen and smother all my balloons with various foodstuffs like oyster sause and jam.  Steak and chips...........
