A friend of mine hosted a charity night last week and so I offered to do some table balloons for her. I currently don't have helium and I have never done any sort of balloon decor before so it was a big challenge and learning curve and there were a few slight discrepancies in height on a couple, so you professionals please forgive me!

I didn't get to see them properly 'in situ' but I've had lots of lovely comments about them and two people have asked me to do some stuff for them for their parties in Dec and Jan, so I'll have to have a think about what to do for them.

I want to go on Pam's decor basics course, but at the moment just can't afford it, so I'm just playing around with them for now and we'll see how I go on.

I've spent tonight working on a Justin Bieber design for a friends' daughter who is having a party tomorrow, so I've tried to incorporate some decor into that and will get some pics tomorrow when I set it up.

Any cc will be welcomed.

Thanks, Lisa.

* these were not properly finished when my friend took the pics, as some of them still needed ribbon adding, but you get the idea  :D

Thankyou!! That means a lot.

It was definitely a learning curve for me, just the amount of time it took me to blow up the balloons! I have a filbert, but not an electric pump and it took me about two hours for all the balloons - there were about 250 in total and some popped etc. I certainly hadn't figured on that amount of time, but thankfully I blew them all up first and took them with me to the venue, putting them together took about an hour and half. I had made one of them the night before just to see that I could do it OK

The main problem I had was weighting them down. I don't have the uplighter bases from Ikea and wasn't sure what to do with the small table top ones. In the end they actually stood up OK on their own and as it was indoors, there was little chance of them being blown away. I had bought some wooden dowelling for the stand and just wrapped the ribbon round but will look into the best option for stands if I do them again.

I was pleased with the results, but as with all things creative, I saw a lot of faults - the weighting being the main issue. But they were well received and I think most people were used to seeing the 3 helium balloon table decor so they appreciated something a bit different.

It's a start anyway eh?

I've spoken to Pam about the course and I'm hoping to do it in the new year, funds are just sooooo tight at the moment, I can't even think past Christmas. I have had a lot of bookings in Nov and throughout December, so once they've paid up I might be able to book. . .

 ;)

They look real good.. BIG Well done.... I did wonder what you used for weights? Time, yes its the biggest thing we sell in decor and its the one thing that gets forgotten in calculating what to charge..

We are not going anywhere, so dont worry about courses no point doing them till you can afford to give the job justice with promotions etc  (ask Yvonne) you just feel bad and that does not help you move forward.

Great work keep it up

Wow...they are very professionally done!  I know you said you had some flaws, but honestly, I wouldn't have noticed any.  And you know, they more you do them, the easier it will get.   Keep up the great work!

These are really nice, Lisa - and you've got all the things right in terms of colour, scale, balance etc - no wonder your customer was pleased.  :) Definitely get on a course with Pam - the talent is there and I'm sure with the extra pointers Pam is more than qualified to give, you'll be decorating huge events and making loads of money before you know it!!

Well done!

Hi Lisa,

I don't get down this end of the forum as often as I should   so have only just noticed your decorations.

I think they look fabulous, and as you say, they are something a bit more special than the helium filled "Bunches of 3".The colour combination looks really good, and the proportions are spot on  :D

I have never done anything like this before, and am looking for ideas, but if what I try comes out half as good as yours as a first try I will be more than happy.

Good luck with the ones you do after Christmas, I'm sure they will be superb  :D  :D  :D
Kind regards
Kevin
