but I am learning something new each attempt!

This time I tried pre-inflating all the balloons and then assembling outside which is great in theory but I learned theory does not always work out as smoothly as hoped!

The biggest lesson I learned is that if you are going to pre-inflate various different sized balloons you need to put them all in separate bags and label the sizes up as you go!  Sounds logical but I didn't do this and managed to mix up the sizes when assembling the Oscar.  I also tried to remove a row of balloons and put them lower - unfortunately this pushed the top large row of balloons off the top and I was unable to get them back in place!

I did, however, work out a much simpler way to attach the arms and have decided that I will need larger than an 11" gold for the head as the largest size balloon in the body is 9" and I feel it still looks too small.

Enough waffling here is the pic of attempt No 3!

I may try and have a go tomorrow but at present I am taking my Mum to the airport and then will have her "delightful" dog Buster to look after for the next 10 days.  Little wotsit doesn't like balloons as they move so not sure how much I will actually get done and may have to lock myself in the dining room just to get my prep work done next week.

your hands are too big!! but you probably noticed that too..

I will check tomorrow to see if I have any 16" gold you could have,  save you buying a bag of 50.

Never gave it a thought you would be taking them as balloons loose so need to know what sizes where, shows we are all learning from this post.

When doing this if its cost effective for you I love to use the pop up laundry bags.. but then I have loads of them now..

To be honest - I know you want it just right, but think your customer will be amazed by anyone you have posted, including the first one, so dont be so hard on yourself.

I am sure I replied to your bottle bags post for your archway but it does not seem to be here now!!! (is this old timers creeping in!!!) anyway I buy mine from local card and party wholesalers and find the cheapest ones the best as they are slightly smaller bottle size and just brick size.. I aslo sometimes get them at Asda for about 20/30p, so its worthwhile having a look at your local supermarket party range. just pop in the brick sellotape the top then tie the line from the handles, for the first couple of rows I use 5" gives it a bit of rigidity and dont pop like 11" when its being built

Cheers Pam.  Actually I had thought the hands were alright but will make them smaller  ;)

As for taking the balloons loose I have to really as I don't have a vehicle big enough to transport 2 of them fully made.  I can just put them in bags already made into the clusters and make sure I label the bags as I go!  Don't mind wasting a load as I bought see through rubbish bags and only have about 300 of them!!!!

I have to say I felt quite chuffed this afternoon when my friend dropped my daughter off after school and spotted the latest one in the garden and thought it was amazing!

Now trying to get a small order sorted as I have agreed to buy a table at my daughter's school fete to advertise myself but can't really do face painting so figured I would get some 11" latex (princess and pirate designs) and sticks and sell them (to cover my costs) and do a bit of twisting for donations to the school.  I had also planned on having a couple of kids bouquets on display and loads of cards!  Should have been doing my first wedding fair instead but it got cancelled 2 weeks ago!!!  Not impressed.

Hi again Yvonne,

Looking better all the time... agree with you about the head size.

For me the only CC I can add at this stage is that from your photo it looks like the hands/arms should come across the body a little lower.
