Balloon Review 035 - SUPER SUITS THE AVENGERS BY DAVID BRENION

I am delighted to be the first to share the news that David Brenion has released a video download entitled SUPER SUIT THE AVENGERS available from http://www.balloon-animals.com/catalog/ ... ucts_id=33 and at an incredible promo price of just $15.

As the title explains, this is a collection of four wearable suits of The Avengers, the incredibly popular movie blockbuster of the same name, and includes designs for The Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.

Will this release meet the high standard David has already set? Let's find out....

Please note, this video download was kindly supplied to me free of charge but rest assured my review will be unbiased and impartial. It takes more than a $15 download to bribe me!

IRON MAN

KIT LIST : 350 RED / 350 GOLD / 260 RED / 260 GOLD / SILVER 5" ROUND

To start with I had to improvise slightly on the colours as I was out of stock of 350 Gold and 5" Silver balloons. The end result is still very nice. The core frame of this design is simplistic and using fully inflated 350Qs will suffice for a large child/teen and a not too tubby adult. The yellow part goes around the person's waist and the red section over their head. If time is limited the arm attachment could be left out and you should still be able to get away with this as being iron man. I have used a grey round for the central hub but a silver one would be better as David shows how to use a small light to make the centre balloon flash. This looks brilliant.

The arm section itself may look familiar to some people as from memory i think David shows this on Buster Balloons recent DVD set. When worn the arm movement is excellent. Obviously my photo doesn't have the same impact as when it is worn for real so as soon as I am able to grab my son I will post a better photo.

For those interested in small lights see here...  https://world.partydotsonline.com/home.html

We are off to a good start....

OK so school uniform is not the best combination for Iron Man but hopefully this gives you some idea of what it is like in action...

THE HULK

KIT LIST : 6" GEO / 350 LILAC / 350 LIME / 260 LIME / 6" LIME HEART

This has to be the BEST EVER fist I have seen. The design is fantastic. Big and impressive and using Geos for knuckles is ingenious. The main hand joints are secured onto twisted heart lobes which originally concerned me about the durablity and strength of the hand. However, by the end the hand was secured and sturdy and ready for field testing! For those people who haven't perfected the art of twisting lobes on hearts may struggle but if you are comfortable at making Ken Stillman's hero designs it won't be a problem. I am tempted to add another arm on my one. Whilst this design looks very complicated, it isn't and think once I have made it a few times you could make one within 10 mins.

This is a reputation maker - off to see The Avengers at the weekend at the Cinema..... mmmm very tempted now to go in fancy dress.

Clearly a bad day at school but you get the idea!

Awesome hands and fist.
nice job Nippy

I never buy other material but when I saw the picture of the hulk in my email I knew that it was going to be in my set. Got to give credit where it is due so the 15 bucks were sent.

I made some changes myself. I replaced the top arm part with a doubled over 646 to give it some real bulk and have plans for changes to the others.

Up until now I was making these awesome hulk fists with 350s that really turned heads but I was very impressed with the versatility of this design.

David, you have my Kudos.

Yeah, the implementation of Geos is genius.  Never would have thought to do that.

Looks like from just the first two, you've convinced me to buy another one!  I'll be placing the order when I get home this weekend!

As a side note, I love the fact you are putting the kit list up there with each creation.  It really helps when figuring out where each design will fit as far as whether party, line, or more specialty.

The geos look amazing!

Downloaded all four and they are worth far more that the $15 currently being charged. Like all truly creative designs  - these act as a stimulus to the imagination. Already have a Wolverine, Batman and Superman using David's basic formula with a few additions. Think Spiderman is next. Hopefully will post pictures in the gallery soon.

CAPTAIN AMERICA

KIT LIST : 16" DONUT WHITE / 11" TOP PRINT STAR BALLOONS / 260 RED / 350 RED / 350 WHITE / 350 DARK BLUE / 260 DARK BLUE

This Captain American design uses two balloons that are unlikely to be part of a twisters standard stock cupboard. The 16" donut and the 11" top print star balloons. I am unsure where in the UK to find the top print balloons but I did find them from my usual USA supplier (see link below)

http://allamericanballoons.net/p-25533- ... ue100.aspx

Unfortunately I didn't want to invest in importing any to the UK this time around so my final result is not as good. Anyway, onto the design.

The shield is incredibly simple but very effective and quick to make. This design can be easily adapted for any round shield. Due to the snug and tight fitting of the 350 around the outside of the white donut, the outer rim of the shield is unlikely to slip off but David does offer a few suggestions for securing it in place. I guess in an ideal world it would have been nice to have a solid red ring around the shield but clearly the bubble has to join somewhere.

The body design is based on the standard model with the star print balloon secured to the waist.

A very nice design, quick to make and even better if you get your hands on the right balloons!

THOR

Another variation on the basic design is for Thor. The oversized hammer is a great addition and the kids will love bashing hell out of each other. Unfortunately I didn't have any silver 646s in stock for the hammer but hopefully you get the idea.

SUMMARY

David has produced another wonderful and original instruction set which offers a foundation of designs to build upon to create many other superhero characters. The introductory price of just $15 is exceptionally good value for money and even the regular price of $20 is a bargain. The concept of instant download is good and the quality of the video instruction is excellent as always.

For me the Hulk design is the highlight of this collection. The hand design is ingenious and I have already had a lot of fun using this in the real world. It is a reputation maker.

I highly recommend this to everyone - i can't wait to see what David does next.

Keep up the excellent work.
