Balloon Review 110 - Easter Video Pack by CJ Nelson

Available from Balloon Parade priced $15 -http://www.thetwisterscookbook.com

This is a collection of four video downloads with an Easter theme. Apologies that I missed the Easter season but these designs can be used all year round especially the fantastic rabbit.

To start, the quality of the videos are very good. CJ explains the models in detail and the instructions are easy to follow. It was very easy to purchase and download the files for instant access upon my computer.

So let's see what we have here.

EASTER EGG HEADBAND

A fairly quick and simple design but the end result looks wonderful. This balloon uses polkadot print balloons. I didn't have any so I took a regular round and stuck round stickers on! The round balloon needs to be shaped slightly to look like an egg. The tuft of grass at the base is a nice addition. The 160Q flower is a little fiddly to get the petals uniform.

A great headband and perfect for line work.

EASTER BASKET HEADBAND

This model is the perfect headband but can also be used as an accessory for a larger model. The basket is very clever and uses a link-o-loon. I haven't got any of those yet so used a regular round which whilst a little harder produces a good result. The eggs are under inflated rounds which are effective when arranged properly.

A very popular design with customers. Very commercial.

EASTER RABBIT

This rabbit is worthy of the asking price alone. It stands very tall and is a brilliant delivery piece for Easter. Made with 350s, this rabbit is bulky and has a lot of character. The head design was a little difficult to follow on the video initially so you do need to look carefully at where each bubble goes.

My final design is a little different to CJs. I recycled the easter basket headband to attach to the rabbits arms and the base is slightly different. The basket design with the rabbit is a little different and I would say easier to make.

I used this rabbit as a centrepiece for a easter food display and it was well received.

Really good and a reputation maker.

EASTER CHICK

For the chick design CJ shows two variations for the wings. One is very quick and easy perfect for line work, and the other one a little more complex using 160Qs but significantly better as it add bulk to the body and better shaped wings. The use of a pinch twist to secure the eyes and beak behind the head is clever and helps pull everything together.

You will use this one.

SUMMARY

A very rare situation where every design in a collection is usable and of a good standard. This collection offers good value for money and worthy of an investment.

Good job CJ!

Great review. My addition is that these should have been offered in a zip file. They were individual downloads and took an age to download. I'm guessing it was due to these files the CJ's site was frequently unavailable due to going over the bandwidth.  In between the bandwidth problems I donwloaded 2 of these, when I went back for the third the site was down for going over bandwidth again so I gave up. I might have a go at downloading the remaining 2 at some later time, and at a time when I have a lot of my download allowance left. :)

Hi Billy - thanks for your feedback. I do recall CJ having problems with bandwidth and downloads due to the demands for his videos. CJ is a member here so I am sure he will provide feedback.

Thanks

Thanks Darren for the review.  To everyone else, I apologize for the interruption in service.  A few days after Easter I transferred TCB to a different host and now have unlimited bandwidth and should not have any more problems with the downloads.  I am also compressing the newer videos so the file size will be smaller and hopefully not sacrificing quality.
