Balloon Review 124 : Live Balloon Entertainment Vol3 by Eric Weinstein PDF

Available from www.yourpartyschool.com priced $25 as a downloadable PDF.

A collection of four designs using a new style face design as the core structure. This is the third volume in a series of four recently released by Eric as downloadable PDFs. The ordering process is simple and Eric was prompt in sending the PDF file to my email box. The instructions contain plenty of full colour photos along with supporting text. Bubble sizes are quoted in inches.

JAKE THE PIRATE

After seeing Eric post his pirate model on facebook I have been eagerly awaiting this collection of designs and couldn't wait to make this. I am delighted with the end result. Having tested it in the real world the character is instantly recognised as Jake and the Neverland Pirates and after posting a photo of my facebook page I have already received a few balloon delivery requests.

The face design taught by Eric is incredibly versatile and very cute. Simply changing the balloon colours and the various sizes of the forehead and mouth (350Q/646Q) you can create many characters. The head design is very simple to construct and very fast as well.

The body design is simple and the pirate sits nicely on-board a pirate ship.

Despite the incredible end result my job is to offer an unbiased review – for this reason I do have the say the PDF instructions would benefit by having someone else proof read them or test them first. The lack of clarity in places makes these designs less accessible to someone of lesser ability and I do feel some of you may struggle in places to follow along.
There is no denying the pirate design is a real reputation maker and worth the price of the PDF alone.

SUPER WHY

This is not a character I am familiar with and I believe appeared on Nick Jr in the UK for a while. For this reason this has limited use as it stands. However this design makes a perfect super hero. The face is so easy to construct. The hair design is a little tricky and again with the instructions it wasn't overly clear.

To make the face Eric references the previous Pirate design to follow a few steps. I prefer all my instructions to be in one place when making designs. Again I am being overly picky but if you want to make design #4 first from the collection, you need to go back and read (or possibly construct) the first three designs to work out how to do it.

I found the sizing of the 'mask' bubble is important (my one looks top big) to give the proper appearance of an eye mask. The body is easy to construct and this can be made as easy or as complex as you like.

Eric's original design has different hands to my creation. I couldn't work out from the text or the photos how to make them. Try as hard as I could it just left me frustrated.

The final character is great, stands tall and is sturdy enough to be free standing. Good design, pleasing result just a little negative about the clarity of the instructions.

A really pleasing result and I can just envisage making batman, superman and other super heroes and characters.

BUBBLE GUPPY

With the addition of a quick body design this one has the potential of being a line worker with a few adaptations. Whilst the hair looks complex it is fairly easy. The tail will delight the 'frumple' twist fans amongst us.

Although really easy not everything is explained, for example, "to make the arms create pictured pattern"

A fun model and looks great.

NINJA TURTLE

A nice sized ninja turtle. Fairly quick to make and a demonstration of how versatile the head design is. The body is a standard design – noting complex here.

SUMMARY

This is a wonderful collection of designs. All of them are usable and Eric provides a nice platform upon which to expand. Good value and a collection of reputation makers. The only downside is the clarity of the instructions in places. A little more attention to detail and perhaps having someone independent proof read and test the instructions would turn this product from excellent to truly stunning!

Go buy it!
