Balloon Review 132 : Princess Blossoms by Twister Sister Blossom Princesses VIDEO DOWNLOAD

Available from https://vimeo.com/channels/twistersister priced $35 (or individually for $7 per design)

This is a collection of instructional DVDs by Twister Sister's (Holly) Vimeo channel comprising of 11 video files of various princess designs. All these designs can be mounted on balloon sticks, on top of headbands or attached to a plastic cup filled with sweets.

This is the first instructional videos I have purchased from this source and I must say the quality of the video is some of the best I have seen. Either viewed in real-time or downloaded in HD the colour is vibrant, the sound excellent and the instructions are explained slowly step by step.

Let's see what we have here...

The first video download is a general introduction which explains the various principles and techniques needed to make these designs. This section explains how to mount the princesses on a balloon stick, headband and a balloon cup. It is helpful to watch this section but not essential. If budget is tight you could just buy this one chapter for $7 to make a basic princess design.

SLEEPING BEAUTY OR PINK PRINCESS

The first princess design is a pink princess which looks absolutely delightful. A blush q-link is used for the face (as it makes it easier to attach the hair and the neck) although a blush round with a raisin or sidewall bubble would work equally well. The hair is very simplistic but works well. The geo blossom round for the dress really speeds up with the making of this design.

The 160Q gold for the crown can be a little problematic as sizing is key to fit nicely on top of the princess head.

Holly also provides an easy guide to drawing artwork on each of the designs. I am rubbish at drawing but I think this one looks OK.

A very promising start to this collection. Within minutes of posting it on Facebook I had my first message asking to buy one!

Worth a look.

KITTY

The odd one from the collection who is not a princess! This kitty balloon uses a heart for the face (as most kitty designs do) - i probably under inflated mine too much as the face is not as full as it could be. This design is face to make (although it uses a raisin) and would be great mounted on a standard 6 petal flower on a head band. Nothing ground breaking here but worth a look.

MERMAID

This is one of my favourites. Slightly more complicated than the last one but using the same principles. The purple balloon across the Mermaid's chest adds stability to the head and the extra long tail adds something to the overall look.

Very nice.

FROG PRINCESS

A slight enhancement of the standard princess design sees the addition of a frog and the use of a mocha brown q-link to make the frog princess. I simplified the frog from Holly's original design. I think I have made 10 princesses over this weekend and they are now very quick to make and a real success with my customers. I may even try these for line work.

RAPUNZEL

It is getting hard to write anything new about these designs as they are all variations of the same theme. Rapunzel uses a yellow 160Q for her long hair with a same variation at the back of her head to make a joining point. I like the way her hair curls around.

FAIRY

I think this is supposed to be Tinkerbell. A pair of clear wings have been added although hard to see in the photo. This design uses a neat front lock of hair which is held in place with a pinch twist wedged between the loop of the 260Q yellow. Next time I may try to add some 160Q legs.

WONDER WOMAN

A really excellent design. Instantly recognisable and a nice change from the regular princesses. The artwork is simple but very effective. I should add a star on her headband to complete the effect! This one also has a waistband which the other designs do not have.

SNOW WHITE

I would make a small change to this snow white by having light blue sleeves and adding a white collar at the rear of her head. This one is quick to make and the colours make the character recognisable. The same design as the previous ones.

BELLE

From Beauty and the Beast, Belle looks lovely and holding a very neat miniature flower. The same design and before and nothing really much else to add!

BAVARIAN GIRL

An odd choice - apologies for the non-standard photo - the white pen lacing on the front of the girl works well. The rest is the standard design.

This collection of designs is simply brilliant. I have sold many balloon cups to justify the $35 purchase price. Adding these to your range of products will increase sales.
