Had an enquiry for a Wizard of Oz theme party in January: anyone help with ideas for floor standing characters - dorothy, lion, scarecrow, tinman and wizard

Thanks

Hi Pam,

don't forget munchkins and the yellow brick road!

Also flying monkeys (could hang?),
wicked witch of the east and good witch of the south.

Those red shoes,

and the home in Kansas in a whirlwind!

I hope that helps.

Thanks for your help but that parts all being done as well by others, our job is to create the characters as an entrance/welcome to the party room.

Its only a part of the package that we get to do.

They have been doing these parties for years and only last year found us to help them celebrate their 20th anniversary; now they wish us to continue to part of the team, by surplying welcome characters and balloon modelling during the party. Believe me its far less stressful and quite fun, than taking on the whole party decor.

Hi Pam how about doing it as the entrance to OZ as in the city gates and put 2 soldiers ether side of the doors. (I have seen a tin soldier design in a balloon images I seem to remember) depends how far you want to go but you could do a gray column ether side of the door way and a spiral arch connecting them with welcome to OZ on it, and the soldiers standing by the columns.
From what I remember of the film the soldiers carried spears not guns & looked like tin soldiers.
When it comes to the day I arive at the pearly gates I hope to slide in sideways saying to st Peter WOW!!! what a ride.

Thanks for the ideas Roger - the entrance and photo area to the venue is being done by the caterers - as yellow brick road etc etc

We have the job of creating the line up for the entrance to the party room. which is why we are looking for characters: they have to be delivered complete-ish as time on site is tight - party start 1.30 cant get in till 11am whichis why I am not adverse to creating bodies and adding foil heads - last year was disney/childrens cartoons and did that with Winnie the Pooh and Scooby doo.

got hold of some ideas from balloonhq and capel manor college did sculpture for ips comps in 2005 and have some scarecrows from balloon images ( USA have bigger scarecrow events than we have, I know some of our local villages do but never been involved)

So all in all should be able to have a go - and Yes I did forget Toto in his basket.

Thanks you to everyone for the ideas, the creative juices have flowed.  If by January I have learnt how to upload pics on to this site (mine always come back too big!!) I will post them.

Cheers all
