Dear All,
I would like to run a competition for all members which actually has a prize!
I do a lot of work for Colchester United Football Club who have a team mascot called Eddie The Eagle. I am looking for someone to create the best Eddie balloon model that looks as much as possible like the actual mascot that I can use for an event later in the year. To win the prize all you need to do is to post a photo of your best design. The winner will then be selected by me and in order to claim your prize you must email me or post instructions on-line on how to make the balloon. I don't need detailed and professionally written instructions but enough to enable me to make it as well.
The first prize will be £50 credit to spend in Graham's store.
The second prize will be £15 credit
The third prize will be £10 credit
Please bear in mind I have the right NOT to pick a first prize if there are no decent entries or you all decide to make a single balloon parrot and draw eyes on it, althought their will be £15 and £10 prizes regardless.
I'm stumping up the cash for a useable balloon.... anyone up for the challenge??
This competition is in no way connected to Graham or this forum and I will accept full responsibility for it's running.
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES - 11TH MAY 2011

Not sure if I'll have time...but if I can I'd like to give it a go.
Hi Tonya - would love for you to have a go... happy to extend the deadline if anyone would like some extra time. You are the first to respond so you may well be the winner by default!
:-)
LOL...I'm sure someone else will try it too. They just haven't responded yet.
When do you need it by and how big?
Hi Tonya,
Ideally for late August/September. I am easy about sizing but something similar size to your clown would be good. I am sure I can adapt the final design to make it bigger or smaller.
:-)
Just a quickie...for those of us who may not know about the size of Tonya's clown  , can you help out with the size needed? I know you've said you can adapt up or down but it would give me a better idea of what you are looking for.
That's a very good point. Although I would be happy to receive entries for any size model, I guess the most appropriate size would be around 14-16" (36-40cm) high.
Cheers
I may have a go at this....
But I don't the colours at the moment, but would I be able to make it in other colours, as you can always change to the right colours later...???
Hi Kenny
Colones are not important at this stage. I am more interested in the shape and design.
Good luck
Darren
Hi Darren,
I have an idea of what may work, and I was hopeing to do it tonight, but I got hi-jacked into a pub quiz this evening. I will work on it tomorrow, and hope what I come up with will be of use to you.
Take care, and I will report back !!!!!!!
(PS We came second :D )
Hi Darren,
Hope you are well, and I'm reporting back with my version of "Eddie the Eagle"
Here he is. I put a drink can in the picture to give you an idea of his size. He stands approx 26" tall
Hope you like him :D :D
I will try and get round to doing a smaller one tonight :D
Here is my Eddie.
This can easily be done small or big. It also uses techniques which assure the same results every time.
Thanks for all your entries so far. Keep them coming. I am a little busy over the next few days but will be more regular on these boards by Sunday.
Cheers
Hi Darren,
Here is a smaller version of Eddie.
This one stands about 18" high.
Hi Darren, Here's my version of Eddie the Eagle.
I was hoping to have posted before now however things been a little on the busy side. Glad I was able to have a go before the time ran out, and Good luck to the other two entrants so far...where's all the others? This a fantastic prize up for grabs.
Dear All,
Thanks for all your entries so far. I will keep the competition open for this weekend in a hope we may get a few more.. I will review the entries and decide on the prize winners next week!
Cheers
Just read this... Awesome, thank you for extending ... I am off to work on one now... will have up later this evening.
I did this one really quick... I hope he looks ok... I have a new widescreen monitor and everything is distorted....
Dear All,
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to submit an entry to my competition. In my original post I mentioned that the first prize of £50 would go to any balloon entry that I would use commercially and therefore ask for detailed instructions. I feel a little bit of a tight ass and overly mean, but being very open and honest, I will not be using any of the designs for this purpose.
Therefore I am pleased to announce the following winners....
2nd place... £15 goes to Phoenix
3rd place... £10 goes to Kenny
The money will be transferred into Graham's account today so give him a few days to receive it before you spend it.
Thanks again for everyone who entered - your efforts are appreciated.
Best wishes
Darren
Many thanks indeed Darren, and great jobs done by Kenny, and everyone else as well. Very intresting to see how other people interpreted the same figure.
I am not sure if Billy Wiz is visiting the orphanages again this year ( I am just about to message him ) but if he is I would like to donate the prize to him :D :D
Many thanks again for the offer Kevin (I've just replied to you).
I've just come back a couple of weeks ago, i was there for the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl. I'm not touring again now until next year. But it was very kind of you to offer, thank you very much, and well done for winning the competition!
Regards,
Graeme (Billy Wiz)
Never mind Graeme, the thought was there.
Thanks to Darren for coming up with the prize, I will just have to spend it on me
Rest assured you will have my support for your next trip Greame.
