Title: New Competitions (Idea's Please)
Post by: Graham Lee on August 06, 2008, 02:51:09 PM
I thought we'd start afresh with all the games as they all seem to have run there course.

Shall we just start them all again or has anyone got some new ideas

What about a theme competition?

I did a food festival the other day so had to come up with food themed balloons!!! It was fun to do that. It would also serve
as a reference if you needed that perticular theme!!!

There will be obvious seasonal ones coming up like Halloween and Xmas, but howabout 'summer holidays' or 'seaside' or....?

Or a techniques comp where a technique is set and everyone attempts to make a model using that technique somewhere in it ... probably a stupid idea but didn't want Danny to feel on his own coming up with the good ideas  ;)

Just to make Graham feel better an idea I have come up with

How about a competition where you can only use certain balloons?
creations from just hearts? Geo's? 321's? 5" rounds? and of course the 260's, 160's, 350/60's, 660's,  etc etc etc

Pam

I think I saw this on another forum late last year or something, but how about topical competitions.
The next 'event' other than back to school is I think Halloween. please jump in and correct me if I am wrong, so a bit nearer the time how about a comp about halloween sculptures?
Followed by maybe Guy Fawkes for us this side of the pond, then thanksgiving for the colonials, only kidding, and then onto Christmas, if I have missed a 'local'cuatom I apologise but put it up for a comp and lets go.
This will not only make us each think of what is good but spread our knowledge and skills and thus allow us to improve what we each can offer to the discerning public :D

I like those ideas a lot. Danny mentioned themes, so we could use other ones when there isn't an "event" coming up maybe?

Perhaps (with a bit more notice) like what magic-Adie asked. He was after anyone to post cowboy stuff for his up and coming gig. We could put pics up based on whatever the subject base is?
Another example, last week was the carnival down Skegness which was based on a music theme. Couldn't think of what to do so decided to do an Elvis and strap him to my back (thank you very much...). Some different instruments would have been useful.
