Advice for my first stall at a local event please!
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:09:32 PM »
Hi All

I am new to the forum as I am looking for some advice.
I have been asked if I would like a stall at a local event (classic & supercar show) which has around 60 other stalls and a kids fair.

My question is how many balloons roughly do I need? I don't want to buy lots of stock and end up not selling much, but at the same time I'm worried about selling out quickly.
I was thinking of buying mainly foil balloons which kids could write their names on in glue/glitter etc to personalise them and then a selection of character balloons (any advice on which you find most popular would be amazing!)

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance charlotte

Hi Charlotte, welcome along to the forum.

I would check none of the other stalls are doing balloons,
plus none will have a balloon artiste to attract people to there stall.

Also check what the footfall would be to make sure they have enough people coming through the door.

What are you hoping to achieve?

Making money on the day or a loss leader to get other decor work further down the line.

Hi Graham, thank you for your reply.

They have confirmed I will be the only balloon seller at the event. Last year 12,500 tickets were sold and I believe they are expecting it to be bigger this year, however, I am unsure of the breakdown between adults and children.

I would ideally like a bit of both, I know im not expecting to get there and make that much money and it would be good to get future bookings. however enough to cover my costs and make a 10 hour day worth while would be good :)

I will mainly just be selling helium balloons (I don't do modelling), I was going to focus on some character balloons, pet walkers and let kids personalise their own foils with glitter etc. just completely unsure as to what im likely to sell  :?

thanks
charlotte

If you have a good relationship with your balloon supplier perhaps he will do a sale or return on some foils.
That way you can take some extras knowing he will take back if they do not sell.

Get any balloons with Cars on, either prints or foils!

Make sure you do a column or arch to decorate your stand, show what else you can do and attract people to your stall.Give out a flyer/biz card to everyone who purchases, and everyone who comes to your stall for a look. Chat to people and tell them what you do that is not on sale that day. Have a mixture of air filled and helium filled and a variety of prices for every pocket.

You might want to consider candy cups with mini foils on top - sweets & balloon sell!

Just a few ideas - I hope this helps!
