I have booked the very first care and share day for 2015 for Bishops Stortford for Tuesday 6th Jan, the day will sort of be free to attend.
Two reasons,
1, as many of you know I mis-calculated the days for this year and booked 11 so to have a free one will be OK as we still did have 10 for BAG members.
2, the day will cost £25 to attend but you will get a voucher to spend on the day for £25.
This will be the 10th year of the care and share days and a good friend David Grist passed away on the 15th Jan 2005. I'm flying off over to America on the 15th so have to have this the week before. I would like to have a little party with a few balloons and a few workshops and a few competitions, a little like the original days we used to have.
So if anyone would like to volunteer to run a 20/30 minute workshop then please get in touch and I will book you in, it is all very laid back and we are all a very friendly bunch.
The first hour I will run a basic class from 10 till 11pm All are welcome. I will add the booking details to the website tomorrow.
Just added it to the website, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/ballo ... hare-days/ (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/care-share-days/)
Someone should teach something from David's DVDs as a bit of a thank you for his brilliance :)

Yes I have taught the sheep on a couple of occasions Craig, it would be nice if a few perhaps would buy one of his DVD's as a thank you for his brilliance.
That way people would be supporting David's family as for every single DVD sold I send them £10 and for a full set £67.50.
Would you like to come down and teach something at the day?
Count me in... I haven't been able to come to any balloon meets over the last year. I am happy to teach something from David's DVDs... or come up with something of my own..

So the day will run with a basic class from 10 till 11am. Then we have Darren and myself running a workshop each. There will be two competitions to win some balloon products and also a FREE raffle. I will be donating a set of David Grist DVD's, not sure to raffle as one prize or nine.
Would anyone else like to run a workshop? Would like to have six altogether and possibly a quick 5/10 mins form one or two at the day sharing a variation on a theme or a favourite line work model etc etc. Any other suggestions to make this a fun day are always welcome.
Someone has booked onto the day already :D
I will do one of the workshop sessions if you want Graham :)
Thanks Rob, three down and three to go although I'm happy to drop out if we get more than six.
I got the stanstead express today and it stopped at Biships Stortford, they do a return from £16 if you book 30 days in advance.
Not sure if there is 30 days till 6th Jan but it might be worth a look.
We have one more volunteer for a workshop, David Ellis, Macker Balloons. So we are up to four now, would anyone else like to do a small spot?
It could be something that works for you in the real world, a variation on a theme, artwork, photography, marketing, we are very flexible.
Looking forward to coming along this time, I really like this venue (only 1 1/2 hrs away :-))
I'll be there :)
Everyone that books in with the £25 voucher will get a free raffle ticket. The day is free to attend but you have to buy a £25 voucher to spend on balloons at the day.
Plus you get the free raffle ticket, there will be 9 DVD's available to win, for every £25 spent you will also receive another free raffle ticket.
Hope that makes sense?
In case anyone is a little short and unable to register for the day with the £25 voucher then PLEASE just turn up and have a nice day twisting.
As it is a free day I would rather people came along and enjoyed the day,
this may get me in a little trouble as some have registered but those that booked do get the free raffle ticket to win up to 9 DVD's so hope everyone will be OK with this?
The more the merrier in my opinion and as I usually spend more than £25 on balloons it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
Kevin, Mr Wiggle is also doing a little spot for us on the day and if possible I would like to get one of the face painters giving a few tips on artwork.
If anyone would like to volunteer?
If anyone is using the Dartford crossing on Monday/Tuesday to attend the balloon day remember you have to register online as they have taken away the toll booths for payment.
So hope you all have a wonderful time, and I am so gutted not to be able to join you as a stupid fall left me with a broken shoulder and out of work.
Have a fabulous time.....loads of fun and giggles......and have a great day xx

And an exciting talk about latex it was too :P
I hope you have saved some for me!
Thanks to Graham and Lyn for another amazing Care & Share Day - pick up lots of superb ideas and enjoyed lectures by Rob, Dave, Kevin and Graham.... I even picked up a couple of prizes!
A lovely dolphin design taught my Graham - I upscaled one of them to 350Q...

I was just going to post a picture of the dolphin I made and guess what, I do not have one in the 300 pictures I took...........oops.
So a little about Darren's two prizes, one was for winning the large balloon sculpture competition that had to have at least one 160 balloon in the design.
Darren made the stingray below and for the other award please click on the link, post70999.html#p70999 (http://balloonchat.co.uk/post70999.html#p70999)
A few pictures, if anyone did get a picture of the Dolphin I made today could they post it, thanks.
From the basic class,
More from the basic class,
Just checking quality of picture, the bottom one is re-sized. Both pictures look great in my picture file but a little blurry here, not sure why.
The basic class seemed to go over quite well, I did teach a couple of items I do not usually and just went with the flow of what was asked for.
Ine getting into the swing of things, not sure I have seen anyone so excited about being at a day ;)
Ine ands Paul working things out,
A few more from the day,
A few balloons being made around the room,
These were taken before the first workshop of the day,
David and the start of the second workshop, David had a different dog head design that will be most useful and he explained how it came about and was his first picture post on balloon chat.
Dan made Dusty.
David explained that the Elephant was using the same dog head design, a few variations on David's dog design. I made the mocha one.
Some of the winners for the 9 DVD's that were up for grabs in the FREE raffle, it was easy for some to decide what volume to have and difficult for others ;)
David and his very first David Grist DVD. David used to know David Grist and lived in the same village.
Darren talking about his base design idea,
Ine having a good old time at the day,
Someone made a goat from David's dog, it might have been Darren? And Darren helping out Simon and Ewan who were both first time to a care and share day.
A few more pictures from the day, I think Dan made the sheep dog ;)
More winners from the raffle and Darren's workshop was very popular.
Looks like the face painting ladies brought there own picnic along to the day, Dan made the aircraft balloon pump and Rob the space shuttle.
Another raffle winner and then it was competition time, guess what Dan entered......................again!
More competition entries, I think there had to be a 160 balloon in the model.
We had a few entries into the first competition of the day,
More entries for the competition, I feel that if people knew before what the prize was one or two may not enter.
We had a bag of 11" Grey rounds and a selection of off the wall prizes as well............
Just remembered I had not posted all the pictures from the Bishops Stortford day, we had a few prize winners on the day.
Over 15 I believe.
Rob running one of the many sessions we had during the day,
My version of Rob's turtle, I thought it was a nice real world design.
I think you need to make up your own mind as to what Rob Is doing here! Everyone having fun with the dolphin design I shared.
A female turtle and some more raffle prize winners.
Kevin going through his opening warm up for his kids show, it was very interesting and you could see the kid's would love it.
This was the dolphin picture,
Darren picking up his award,
Darren explained his fish design,
Now what was Rob up to?
These I think are from the last competition of the day? We had soooooo much going on I lost track a little.
Dan and another stick :o :)
More from the competition entries, Dan made Rob's aircraft pump :D
Ine made the olaf and then did a quick workshop on how to make it.
The last pictures from the Bishops Stortford day,
The format for this Care & Share day was different to the other two I have attended.
I preferred this meet to the others because it felt we were actually 'sharing' ideas, not just copying.
This does not mean I did not enjoy the other days. I gained a lot of balloon knowledge from them and enjoyed meeting all you balloonatics out there!
Its hard to explain but it just felt friendlier in a way.
Maybe its just me getting sucked into the balloon community?
This is how the days started a few years back David, they are reliant on others getting up so at some days they were a little quieter than others.
I liked it going back a little and seeing others sharing a few things here and there. It was a fun day :)
