Last week we were in Phoeniz Arizona and then this week we are off to Blackpool for the famous and largest magic convention in the world with 3500 people attending.
Thelma and I will be there with a stand, if anyone is coming along and needs any Qualatex balloons can you let me know before as we do not have enough room
in the van to bring all the products along with us.

We try to add and move things about so the stand looks a little different when people keep on walking around the dealer hall.

I think this is the least balloons we have ever had on the stand as we were busy explaining things and selling product  :)

Here are my photos,  I didn't take many.
I took one of the stand just before we left with no flash to show the effect of the lights inside the round balloons under the swan.  I was trying to represent the water.
The  baby Graham posted was a design I saw at the spring fair on the Qualatex stand.  I loved it so much I made it for the stand but added a baby's bottle.  Initially I made another light balloon.  I put colour changing lights inside the round balloon so that the stand would attract the eye from the other end of the hall.  We popped it and put the baby on after the first day.  Then we changed the baby for the bride and groom another day.

Graham had some deco balloons with teddys inside.  He decided to make a blue and a pink display.  He had this great idea of putting a chain of teddys around the column and was fairly pleased with the result until someone came to the stand and said "You have been to the spring fair!"  Graham said "No I was in USA"  The guy pointed at the babies on the stand and said that was there and so were the teddies"  I told him that I had been and seen the babies there but had not seen the teddies.  He produced his camera and to our amazement there was a photo of the deco teddy on a column with teddies around it just as Graham had made.  It was pure coincidence.  It was pretty amazing just how close the designs were to each other but Graham really had not seen it before and was convinced he had come up with it.  Sometimes when someone comes up with a design it turnes out to be done before and people thing their work has been stolen when it really is just coincidence.  Still I thought it was pretty funny.  Not sure how funny Graham found it.

Yes it was a bit odd that the two designs came up with in a couple of weeks of each other.
I first saw the linking Teddy idea about eight years ago when they were made into a hat by Gerry Luff.
Both Thelma and I thought the teddies made from 260's were too big for the column and would maybe look better made from 160's if anyone else was to have a go at the design.

Glad all went well at Blackpool

I love the swan Thelma, the combination of feathers and balloons is fantastic, and the glow from the light really enhances it. A beautiful idea

I first learnt of the way to link teddies when Graham showed me about a hundred years ago. It's a very useful idea.

These are some linking Pudseys I did at a "Children in Need" event
Kind regards
Kevin

Lol.... Yes I am sorry to rain on your parade!!! It was funny that the design was so similar to the one I saw at Spring Fair. It just proves in this world of balloon modelling that 2 people can come up with the same design separately though.
The stall looked really good this year.

It was not a problem Jason, in fact the picture you showed us looked exactly the same except for the colour combination, a bit spooky really.

This was the outstanding magic act of the convention, he got a standing ovation the first night so they also put him into the show on the Saturday night and he got another standing ovation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kobdyt-S_lw

I sent someone an email about the act and these were my comments;

"I loved Yu Ho Jin, it was pure artistry and took me off somewhere else, a joy to watch."
