I thought I'd posted this before but cant see anything. The magic convention starts on Wed 24th Sept with the dealer hall open from Thursday with approx 60 dealers worldwide attending.
They have some great acts on as well from all over the world so it may well be worth a visit.

Well I finally got down here after a bit of a nightmare drive as the A22 was closed at Whytleafe & the diversion had roadworks & single file traffic, so what should have taken about 75 mins took 2.5 hours.

Just been out with some friends for a chinese which I thought was very poor, so if you come to Eastbourne I'd give TY8 a miss but then that's just my opinion.

Have been meaning to backup all my data on my computer for years in case it crashed so had an external hardrive put in & saved all the files & somehow more by mistake really managed to put all the info onto my laptop, those that know me will realise what a challenge that was for me, computers & I just dont seem to go together. Have just spent a couple of hours going through about 30 different picture folders I have of a lot of my balloon workthat I've made over the years, still have another 20 to sort out for creating a portfolio folder so that I can put it onto a slide show so that it may get people to stop & look at the stand & then I can pounce on them & get them with my charm  to chat & buy a few items from the stand.

Will try & update this every night while were here at the convention to let you know whats been good, funny, bad etc

Well the end of day one of the convention, I saw the opening show & shield competition tonight. I liked the compere Steve Evans tonight, thought he had a lovely way with him. There were some nice young magic acts on tonight but I have to say I can never understand why they dress so yesteryear with black formal clothing. I think they should be wearing young modern clothing with upbeat music to reflect there youth, possible older more mature people are advising them :o
It was nice to meet up with Dave Andrews & some good friend who I've not seen for a while, really had a great day & was very pleased when Lyn Thomas who has a lovely act which is completely different with a medieaval theme which I thoroughly enjoyed & to cap it all when we were sitting & having fish & chips he showed me an amazing mental card trick. This alone was well worth coming to the convention for, this effect will blow your socks off, well I think so :D

I saw a really great show last night, the compere was John Archer from the UK who is alwaysvery good & then the acts were all comedy acts from America where I'm guessing they work the comedy circuit. It was one of the best shows I've seen for a long time, still the mental card trick is the best thing I've seen so far but will be looking into & asking questions about a prop that one of the acts used last night that I've never seen before. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like a small beach mat that turned into different shapes, have been informed that it pre dates balloon modeling, hat chapaeu & troublewit. Looks like I will have to investigate this more.

Again saw none of the other shows or lectures yesterday, hoping to get off to see the afternoon show today that is run by Eddie Dawes & then the late show tonight.

At the moment I dont have a name for it, will try & find out.
Have been performing it this week & it's a killer ;)
Saw the late show last night with Mark Raffles with his excellent comedy linking ring routine, Richard MacDougall was great with the act with his goose with some really good funny lines & then we had a xylaphone act from yester year, not sure how to describe this but all the songs to me sounded rather similar, oh well never mind. The late show was all I got to see yesterday but I did manage to get out with a few friends for a meal & the company was excellent & the magic good, so what more could you want..............

Just back from the convention, the cars unloaded & last nights gala show.....WOW
I dont think words would be adequate to try & describe the gala show, absolutely fantastic. It's been a few years since I've seen a show of this quality. A big pat on the back to all concerned for making this happen. :D  :D

Quote from: "Graham Lee"...last nights gala show.....WOW .... absolutely fantastic.

I have to agree entirely. Its the best Gala show I've seen and served to show me just how good a compere can get. Jeff Hobson was head and shoulders above all the other comperes I've seen, including John Archer, who is running in second place above all the others!.
