If anyone is attending the Kidology convention and needs any balloons could I ask you to email
a list over to us as we are unable to bring the full range with us due to space in the car.
We will be selling at wholesale prices at the convention so cheaper that what is on the
retail website, thanks.

Details about the midweek convention can be found here,

We got back just before midnight last night from the Kidology magic convention.
It all seemed to go well and the highlight for me was listening to the Richard Cadell
talk/lecture on Sooty. With all the history and how it came about etc etc.

Thanks to Alec, Gordon, Shane and the rest of the gang. Including all the staff at
the venue and the caterers who all worked really hard to make it a fun couple of days.

I have got a few pictures to post.

We could not set up till the afternoon so I made a few balloons while we
waited and watched the tech run for the children's entertainer competition.

Then it was the competition, Daz was first on with a dog puppet routine.
Then Jelly Kelly with a sweet routine.

green for the lettuce and white for the rabbit.
Then Stuart Rogers with a flying chicken routine and large balloon.

PJ the showman was compere and Konk the clown was helping out
with entertaining the children before the show and keeping everyone amused.

The lady vent came all the way from Italy, originally from Japan so was venting in her third language.

Then we were off over to the other hall to set the stand for the convention.

The evening cabaret that was celebrating the formation of Equity and of one of
Birmingham's great night club's of the 70's.

Alec scrubbed up well, I enjoyed the vent act. I had not seen the telephone
conversation and she had a nice section with the talking goldfish.

Then it was the comedian, I have to say he was what one might say old school but
Lyn and I found him to be very funny and laughed away as did what seemed
like most of his audience did as well.

It was then onto Barrington Powell lecture which was on hospital magic around wards.
I try to stay for the first 10 minutes to get a flavour of what is being shared.

I quite liked the shadow picture, looks a little artistic.

Then it was onto the Sooty lecture/workshop/talk.............which was fab.
All about the history and life on TV, well worth going to see.
He is lecturing at the magic circle tonight.

Richard's laptop would not connect to the big screen, so they transferred it all over
to Shane's laptop, and it did play but with stuttering. Did this effect the talk, NO!
It was fascinating to hear how the story of Sooty unfolded.

More pictures of Richard and Sooty.
Sooty in the first picture is one of the earliest surviving ones that were used during the original series.

Then it was a little about my hero...............Sweep, he was my favourite.

Richard then went into his bedtime for Sooty routine.
I thought sooty cuddling himself was a lovely little touch.

That is all the pictures I have from the event.
