I have to confirm the venue but it looks like it is all go for these dates. I have even booked the star lecturer, would anyone like to hazard a guess to who it might be?
17th March is St Patrick's day so looking to move to 24/25th March, hoping this does not clash with anything.
Hoping to book and confirm today.
Sounds good to me, you say it is a new venue, is it still the same area? Just thinking about booking the travelodge.
There is another tour by Colin Stewart on 24/26th in the UK as well so we would clash with that, it is big décor but possibly would be good to avoid it.
So do we go back to 17/18th with 17th St Patricks day or try for another date 31st March and 1st April?
Quote from: "magirob"Sounds good to me, you say it is a new venue, is it still the same area? Just thinking about booking the travelodge.
It would mean booking a different Travelodge about 10 miles away.
This is getting difficult to book, the 17/18th is St Patricks day, the week before a few are unable to attend and the week after is difficult for me as we like to have the days on a Tue/Wed so can be home to ship orders Thursday for the weekend. As Colin Stewart is doing a tour we would need to have a Wed and Thursday 25/26th. Happy to not worry about that for once but on the 27th March is the start for the British jugging convention so I would have to either travel home from Leeds Thursday night and back to Barnsley Friday or arrange to get Lyn home somehow.
Plan B would be to forget March and look at the end of April.
Pieter van Engen has been booked and confirmed, the dates will be announced a little later as I have to go out now.
I have now booked lecturer number two for the event, this has been tricky though with halls and hotels, in fact a bit of a challenge to say the least.
All sorted, the days are booked for Wed 25th March with Pieter van Engen running the lecture/workshop day. This day is filmed for balloon artistes guild members.
Thursday 26th March we have Rhian Beynon with a lecture/workshop, could I ask memebrs to please try and stay for both days as the past few two day events
many have been leaving at lunchtime on day two.
If two day events are no longer required we could go back to single days?
I have booked Arthington Village hall. The usual place, we were going to try another venue but it was booked Wed night so had to move venue and move original date for the event.
The Leeds/Bradford airport Travelodge is very expensive £49 a night, I have booked there for Pieter and Lyn and I as it's easy for the airport when Pieter flies in.
I did notice the Bradford Travelodge was still offering £30 rooms which is 6 miles away so that may be handy or club members could get a family room with a put
you up bed and share the cost for the airport hotel.
I will add the booking details to the website later.
I am booked into the Keighley Travelodge on the Tues and weds night, driving home Thurs evening after the event.
This travelodge was 12 miles away from the hall BUT it was only £65 for 2 nights, had free parking and is just down the road from a hill I need to go and climb. Woohoo
Just added the booking details to the website, the day is free to Balloon Artiste Guild members, this is the last event for 2014/15.
Pieter is the star lecture day so this will be filmed for members.

There is an early bird special till the end of the month, Wed £50, Thursday £35 or attend both days for £75.
I will be there for both dates :)
I see premier inn is £35 http://www.premierinn.com/en/exploreSearch.action (http://www.premierinn.com/en/exploreSearch.action) but leeds centre is that a problem?
Bradford is only £29
Travelodge booked - I'll be there both days.
See you team!
I hope to come!!
There is only a week left to get the early bird special for the two day care & share balloon event in Leeds on March 25/26th With Rhian Beynon and Pieter van Engen.
http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/ballo ... hare-days/ (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/care-share-days/)
Or you could join the UK twister club to attend all 10 balloon days that we run in the UK
I've booked my train tickets - so I'll be coming for both days!
:D
We have a travelodge room available for 24/25th March for the Leeds event staying at the same hotel as Rob Driscoll. The cost for the two nights is £61 if anyone would like it?
Me please:-)
This is the room Jay and Nici had, I think you are chatting with them already?
Only a few days to go for the Leeds care & share days, if you would like to come along then booking details are here, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/ballo ... hare-days/ (http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/balloons/care-share-days/)
Anyone coming to the Leeds care and share days? 25/36th March. we somehow still have a double room available for two nights at just £31 a night so pretty good. Please get in touch for details.
Just back at the hotel after a very nice day with Pieter lecturing.
We then all went out for a very nice meal, a little posher than weatherspoons.
Will post pictures on Friday when I get home. Looking forward to Rhian lecturing tomorrow.
Had an awesome day today, looking forward to tomorrow :D
Just back from a fab two day event, even though I say so myself.
Pieter and Rhian were both excellent and explained sculptures very well and also little extra's when constructing the models.
Will try and post some pictures tomorrow, a couple of little hic-ups. Somehow I forgot the headset mic, oops
and when packing an opened carton of milk was put into one of the boxes with the video camera, hoping the memory card will be OK as the milk went everywhere.
A few pictures from day one and session one,
some how I forgot to put the mic back in the box from our last star lecture day, Pieter set up the mop and bucket and it worked well and got us out of trouble.
Pieter was a true professional and just got on with it although the mop did get in the way for his twisting on a couple of occasions.
The motley crew who I think enjoyed the days.
Pieter went into great detail about how and why connections are made in different ways to achieve the look that he is after, quite fascinating really.
Joyce presented Pieter with a little thank you for coming over to Yorkshire, it is a nice thought and touch.........Thanks Joyce!
I got home late last night after a wonderful two days near Leeds.
Thank you's to Pieter, Rhian, Graham, Lyn, Roger and Louise.
Good times, great memories and lots of new models and ideas too!
I love the balloon twisters club! :D
Quote from: "Danny the Idiot"I love the balloon twisters club! :D
We have had a blast with the club, some fantastic days and some wonderful memories, thanks to those that re-joined.
Had a FANTASTIC!! time at Leeds BAG two day event. looking forward to the next days already :) thanks to all who were involved :)
Some variations on the rabbit in hat that Pieter showed.
The middle picture is the rabbit that Pieter made,
Thanks for an excellent event to all those involved in making it happen, I had a really great time. :D
I think these are moving onto session two with the gun,
I had a great time too, nerves aside! Thanks everyone for the support and thanks graham and Lynne for making it happen :)
I really loved your day Rhian. Lots of new ideas. Thank you very much!
Gutted to have missed these two days. Work always getting in the way :( . Looks like you've had a good time up there with the pictures Graham has posted already and I'm looking forward to seeing much more. Rhian has always been so helpful during the days we've spent chatting it's just a shame her part wasn't laid down on film too. I will be among those that have already done so as it really is the best club I've ever been a part of :)
Pieter went into great depth about how and why he did every detail of the sculptures,
This was an interesting technique that Pieter shared.
My version of Pieter's Lion.
Pinocchio having a lay down,
Everyone enjoying the hands on session,
Some of Pieter's designs.
Tess made the Monkey for the competition, you had to have 3 hearts in the design, I made the two space guns.
This is how the mic turned out after I somehow left it behind at home, it seemed to work OK and Pieter was great with just working with the situation.
Not sure what Amanda was thinking about :) ;)
The space gun I made also looked like a bird/parrot, later it also looked like a ship.
Pieter's bunnies, the ray gun that now looks like the ship and my attempt at an alternative rabbit.
Competition time with Paul, Dave and Amanda.
Rhian, Roger and Danny.
Steve, David and Tess.
Finally Rob, and the winner was..........................................Rhian, thanks to Russell for being the judge.
Quite a few of us went out for a meal,
The table from the other end.
The start of day two, Dave Hickory was making a quick line work trials bike so as Lyn and I got to the venue early I had a few minutes to play so made a variation.
Carrying on with day two of the care & share days in Leeds now that I'm back from the juggling convention.
The early birds all getting ready for the day and Roger kindly brought his PA along so Rhian could use a head set mic, Thanks Roger.
The tank is an award winning tank here on balloon chat and won Rhian the full Colin Myles DVD set,
details and all entries are here, peace-and-harmony-new-dvd-challenge-t4993.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/peace-and-harmony-new-dvd-challenge-t4993.html)
I noticed how the wheels all went in size order when everyone was sitting down.
Not only is the care and share day about balloons but we are also a match making service as well.
Louise and Roger met this time last year at the Leeds event when David Crofts was running the workshop.
Everyone made a flower and Amanda presented the bouquet.
Rhian on her first session of models,
I made the lego man slightly different to the way Rhian showed, I used just one 350. I liked the way the white was left on the black to add to the eyes.
If Rhian is busy she makes the basic minion or if there is time she will add to the model. My variation on Rhian's butterfly.
A close up of the flowers made for Roger and Louise.
The way the body joined onto the head section on a couple of Rhian's sculptures was a very good idea for getting an even balance.
You can see the dog Rhian is making from the poster behind.
Lawrence was loving it :)
Roger had some nice artwork and the Dalek was for the days competition to win a star prize.
My attempt at Finn.
The view from the back of the class ;) Dave came out with a very funny saying for this sculpture :D
I must add a train to my real world models that I make.
The lego man made with a 646, I think Roger made this but not 100% sure.
More from the day, I did like the camera Lawrence made.
Making a variation on the train Rhian showed.
The competition from day two, although Dan was not there we did think about him with a memory from Danny............yes the stick!
More from the competition.
Rob, Dave and David with there entries for the competition. Not sure what the criteria was, possibly 3, 2, and 1 minimum.
And the winner was.........................Mandy, well done :) There were two runners up, was it Rob and Dave/Steve? or some one else. I really should write these things down.
Anyway here is Amanda and Russell splitting the second place prize :)
Amanda helping to keep the place tidy..........thanks :)
Yes it was Rob and Dave splitting the runner up prize, a lovely bag of 11" grey rounds. I think the star prize was an assorted bag of neons.
Rhian was making Olaf and Dave saw slimmer and I saw big hero six,
My attempt at Rhian's Olaf, the start of Rhian's award winning tank.
Some people try to take home all the balloons from the day :D ;) I'm surprised they could see out the car windows on the way home.
Thanks for adding all the photos, Graham. They are brill ! Yet another two great days of balloon twisting:-) Thanks all for making it special :-)
The finished tank,
Paul on the way home with all his models and quite a few from everyone else.
This is the last of the pictures that I have.
Thanks to Pieter and Rhian for running the workshops and here is hoping it was not too stressful for Rhian as it was her very first workshop.
Pieter coped so well with making the mic stand from the mop and bucket, very professional :)
Many thanks to all that came along to the days and made them what they are, thanks for the cakes, biscuits etc and to all those that helped to set the room up and keep it tidy
and carry stock to and fro and to Lyn for manning the stand. I thought it was a great couple of days but then perhaps I'm a little biased.
Quote from: "Graham Lee"I thought it was a great couple of days but then perhaps I'm a little biased.
It WAS a great couple of days Graham, I really enjoy the Care and share days so long may they last, thank you for running them and for posting all these photos.
Thanks for posting the photos Graham. I too loved the two days, thanks for putting them on and for sharing and caring about the balloon community.
I think you should get an award for it - oh wait you have! :D

That made me laugh Danny :D ;)
