Registar online at //http://balloonconvention.com/
Hope to see you there. :D
The early bird special ends today so be quick for a bargain, the fee at the moment is $299. I registered yesterday.
Not sure about others but one of the most stressful things for me is booking a flight on the internet, sometimes I sit there for 30 minutes checking all is OK. So for Las Vegas this time I thought I will call a company and pay the extra £10 and it might be less stressful, well I was so stressed I had to open my window for some fresh air half way through the booking but hopefully we are all booked and confirmed. The firm closes at 2pm on a Sat so we think we have booked, I expect we will find out for definite on Monday. One good thing I checked my ESTA and that is still valid. For anyone else flying out you have to have the ESTA, this is the website, https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/)
Who else is thinking of going?
I've booked my flight & registration for the convention!
Tan Lily, David & Shayna Brenion (Nifty Balloons), Mark Byrne, Wendell Clendennen aka Stretch, Ralph Dewey &??? will be teaching there.
Plus competitions, jam room, and all kinds of stuff all in Vegas Baby! :D
"Don't forget, the Early Bird Discount ends on November 30th! Be sure to register now to avoid another price increase. In addition, if you register early, you get a free Twist & Shout souvenir, highly coveted and always cool!"
Patty, the T&S organiser has jus tposted this on FB.
If you are thinking of going - book soon! :D
If you still need convincing - most of the classes are up now.

:D
Ralph just posted this onto balloonhq if anyone is interested.
Twister Think Tank 5
I'll be conducting another Twister Think Tank at the Twist and Shout convention on January 21, 2015. I'm looking for 12 participants to join me. This is not for beginners, but for seasoned twisters who have at least two balloon ideas to share. The new ideas can be new twists, techniques, designs, devices or anything than could benefit balloon twisters. The purpose of the Twister Think Tank is to share new balloon ideas within a group setting and let synergy stimulate and generate even more ideas. At previous TTT (Twister Think Tanks) it was amazing how the group worked together to produce spin-off ideas. We all made suggestions and observations which generated more possibilities. Creativity is the backbone of the balloon community. My goal is that the TTT will be the catalyst that stimulates greater balloon art. The event will start at 1:30PM and end about 6PM. Contact me by email if you want to be considered.
We are on countdown for Twist and Shout, just a few days to go and looking into what shows to see and places to visit.
I think there are four of us travelling out, Danny, Olivia, and myself and I just found out Andrew looks like he is coming along a few days after we fly out.
That was a very stressful check in today, we booked with Delta but you fly with Virgin. Going between the two sites with different ticket and flight numbers etc............
Let's say it took a while, nearly an hour and it was not just me having the problem.
That done and now just packing for Twist and Shout then meeting Olivia and Danny for breakfast...................and relax!
Sitting on plane next to Danny and Olivia waiting for take off, we are off to Vegas......Baby!
Have a great trip all of you :D
Thanks Rob, a few pictures from our travel day, woke up at 4.30am so having a coffee and looking at the internet.
Breakfast at Gatwick.
Seeing some sights, Olivia has been here five minutes and pulled ;) Well he was doing her make up :)
Went and looked at the Jeff Koon tulips today in the Wynn, very interesting. There will be a competition on balloon chat when I get back in connection with this $60 million artwork.
Met Janet Lenox this afternoon and had a nice lunch and she kindly showed us about, we were told to have the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipidy, thanks to Nick Rotondo
for the great suggestion...................it was fab! Although it was not hot or even frozen come to that but still definately fab!
Off to the grand canyon tomorrow, have to be up at 5.30am, it will be a long day. Will try and post pictures sometime when I get a few minutes.
Sounds fabulous already ......have loads of fun
I wish I could have been out there with you, but I had these cups to make for a party this afternoon so could not make it :D :D
Just got back from a 15 hour grand canyon tour, it was spectacular but a 15 hour round trip was pretty exhausting,
will try to post pictures later but Danny and Olivia are wanting to go for a drink now and I suppose I'd better join them ;)
Sort of recovered from yesterday's 15 hour trip..................sort of, up again at 5 am today. This jet lag thing takes a while for me to adjust.
Anyway a few pictures from the trip, I think we are bus hoping today up the strip and going to Freemantle Street and a few other tourist attractions.
A few pictures from inside the Bellagio hotel.
We did sit and have a glass of wine and twisted a couple of balloons, we were waiting for the bus to the grand canyon and this one with balloons showed up so we had to have a picture :)
We went for a few rides along the strip today with the $8 rover ticket, looked into a few hotels, once inside you thn go on a hike to see the various attractions on show.
Saw a couple of acts in circus circus and a great little chicken in cooking pot game, it was very funny. Then went to see the show "O" we were in the 5th row, what a show.
One I think you need to see a couple of times, so much going on. Off to Freemantle Street area today and either a magic show or a variety show, see which has a deal on offer.
I think these were from inside the Wynn hotel,
Our frozen hot chocolate from Serendipiity. It was fab,
I'm not jealous.
I love Vegas. You can't beat a frozen margarita at midnight whilst watching the bellagio fountains. Have fun and thanks for the photos
Danny and Olivia having a coffee and both busy on the internet :(
Danny with his Elvis impression, he he!
Fremont Street was fun, we saw the light show and went to the Mob museum, that was really interesting. Had a great steak meal at triple George grill, it was fab.
We then watched the buskers, this one guy was so funny, I nearly wet myself, you put money in his tip jar and then he danced, he danced so so bad but he was so funny.
I tipped him 3 or 4 times and Olivia filmed it, we were rolling up.
A selfie from the hoover day,
The Grand Canyon the first picture is on the way to the canyon and 50 miles from absolutely anything there are a few caravans.
It must be very hot inside a caravan in the desert..........I would assume.
I don't think I have ever took a selfie and then two in one day, what ever next.
The convention started yesterday, went to Irina advanced distortion class. Have loads of pictures but still to put them on the computer.
Free Internet is only available in room and at starbucks so unable to post while sitting at back of class's like I usually do.
I entered the 12 minute competition last night with my new snail design. Will post pictures eventually.
Had a $9 steak meal last night and that came with a large beer all for £6 so a bargain and it was ok.
Sunset was on way home from Grand Canyon.
This was our $10 breakfast in a really posh hotel, it was very nice and a sensible price.
Illuminated McDonalds sign, I expect only in Vegas! Olivia wanted to look in the saucy underwear shop so I kept her company ;)
Last nights opening ceremony, Olivia showed me a 5" rat and this was my variation.
We went to have a look at the sideways lift in the Luxor hotel, I thought the lights in starbuck's were nice.
The cereal package was fun and we think genuine.
Instructors telling the attendees what to expect and a few balloons from around the convention,
Last few for a while, sitting in the back of a marketing class.
I just loaded up the pictures onto the computer from the camera, yesterday I took 996 photo's :o
Mind you it was the fashion and costume show last night, I think there were 30 entries.
We watched a couple of acts at circus circus, a very nice glass shop. Our hotel and convention base, looks nice from the outside.
A few more from sightseeing, the last picture is the ceiling inside the theatre for the show "O"
Someone said the show was OK but the water put them off :)
For those who do not know the whole show is based around the swimming pool ;)
Out fantastic view from our hotel room,
I made the yellow dog for the pajama party competition, it was made with a small bear head as the jam room is sponsored on Thursday night.
I missed them calling out about judging so missed entering it, oops!
The beaver was made in the 12 minute competition.
The last picture is Daniel, Fudd on the forum. I always enjoy chatting with Daniel and have plenty of time for him, an interesting character.
Mark Byrne enjoying one of the class's :)
Sam Creemens made the gun from his star wars class and the Giraffe is from Irina's stuffing technique class, there are many stuffing technique class's.
More from twist and shout,
Just shown Donna how to add pictures to the forum, she will be posting some soon :)
Looks super fun! Twisting vicariously through you guys!
When we went to Fremont street we looked around the mob museum which was very good and most enjoyable.
Todays soup is beer sign and we also found a chicken sizzler on the menu that was a pork, Olivia has a picture on her ipad so I will see if she can load it here, it was funny.
Martin showed me a very nice shark which typical me I changed about a little, I will see if I can find his version and post when I get home.
A few pictures from the last day, there are private classes today, the hot one of the convention seems to be Matt Falloon. It will be packed. I'm sitting in the breakfast area with Diane, Donna and the rest of the girls. Rob working away on his sewing machine. Jason Seconda and one of his class's, Sam and the plane making a variation on David Brenion's rumble truck class.
Balloon cart,
Sightseeing on Sunday, Olivia wanted to see the pawn shop which is a series on the TV. Danny and I had never heard of it but it was a fun afternoon.
We found the underwear shop on the way to the car park.
Steve took us there in his car, the guy wore his medallion for all the time we were in the shop so assuming he liked it.
Balloon modelling Sunday night in Vegas, who says we do not know how to party :)
Still playing with that shark design,
Looks like you have all been having an amazing time out in Las Vegas, none of us are jealous whatsoever :P
A few more pictures from our last day sightseeing and going out for a meal to celebrate Olivia's birthday ;)
I thought this was a nifty selfie with a mirror behind Danny and Olivia.
We went to red rock canyon, it was brill!
A few more pictures,
We found some local wildlife while at red rock canyon, have a look at my facebook page to see the UFO from area 51 that we visited as well.
We were shocked.
Just got home safe and sound, having a coffee then un packing and trying to catch up with emails etc.
Welcome home Graham, looks like you had an incredible time :D
Quote from: "magirob"Welcome home Graham, looks like you had an incredible time :D
Thanks Rob, it was an amazing time, here is the UFO siting from area 51 in the USA, see the stories were true.
We had a fabulous time. Thank you Graham for posting these photos - he's taken a heap of photos!
:D
I slept for 12 hours last night, I was shattered!
Some of these might be repeated, normally I post pictures in order from an event but this time did a few each day so not 100% sure what has been posted and what has not.
I wanted to have a full recollection of each day so here we go with pictures from twist and shout 2015.
Does anyone know the name of the gentleman in the picture? He dusts the Jeff Koon sculptures in the Wynn, we might have a competition to name him.
Danny at the grand canyon :)
We were surprised to eventually find an exit sign inside a casino, Danny at the mob museum.
There was a theme going on here for the hairbanders facebook page :)
We sat down for a drink and a chat but some were busy on the free internet at Fremont Street :(
Our favourite entertainer in Vegas, well he was Olivia's and mine, Danny was not too keen but we thought he was so funny.
I will get Olivia to upload the film we took of his act.
While away we went to a few office pro depot stores with Janet and ended up buying a few pens,
Our favourite Vegas entertainer, Olivia and I loved him :D Sitting in on the master class of Irina with her advanced distortion techniques.
The great glue that Irina recommends,
From the first half of the master class, a hand and a foot.
Irina has 4 DVD's out, one was $100 and had nine hours of tuition and the others were $50 each.
The head design was shown in the second half of the master class.
Someone in the class made a few extra pieces :) ;) It made me smile.
Here I am with my convention badge, the actual convention still had not started.
We made a fish and double stuffed it into a green 646, when turned around made a nice head design? maybe.
Olivia made a rat and I made a variation, forgot to take a picture of Olivia's rat. This is Lily Tan holding the rat, Lily was a laugh and half.
And finally the opening ceremony for twist and shout, Rose is in the first picture and then Suzanne Haring, both are a laugh and fun.
The teachers/instructors doing workshops gave a little in sight into what their class's would include and pictures from the headband competition,
Olivia sitting in the front row for the hairband competition,
More hairband competition pieces,
The hairband competition was on after the 3 minute and 12 minute comp but as I entered the 12 minute competition the pictures were taken in the wrong order.
It was the first time of a Hairband competition at T&S. 15 minutes to make a sculpture on a hairband. Then the public voted for their favourite one.
Graham you sir are a camera wielding beast!! And I mean that in all the good ways! Compared to my 3 photos of some balloons I made and 6 of the backs of balloon artist while trying to set up Phileas's piece on the strip lol! Excited too that you got a shot of my little "cute" thingy...Should have put that one in the small contest instead of the bug!
Edited in: I went on a tangent and wanted to say although Vegas was a blast I did not get the chance to spend as much time as I was used to as in Phx/St. Louis where you did not have all the shows/food/drinking/gambling too do. It was a blast just much harder to chill and talk etc.
I have to say these events and TnS in particular have opened up so many doors for me. Its a push to keep learning and growing. Its also a chance to reconnect with your peers and heroes and make some amazing friendships. All while learning and having a good time and being able to write it all off come tax season!
Who knows where and what I would be doing these days without balloons and the people in this community.
My fondest and most special time I have had in all my balloon con. experiences is still the day I got to spend with Donna (Spunkybeans) Graham and Danny. Exploring a suburb of St. Louis and its neat shops with touristy Amish goods! Having some of the best lunch and visiting Ickle Pickles basement Magic shop. I look up to all three of you so much and feel so very special to have had that time with you.
My good friend Martin Lemure has been a roomie of mine at 3 events so far... two of those I would not have been able to afford to go had it not been for his generosity and friendship, and his lower than normal room fee!!
These type of things, this generosity and willingness to share and build each other up is inspiring and I can not wait to do the same for others. In these same ways and any other way I can... If I can do anything for any of you please just ask. Ill try my best.
Please everyone try to get out there and involved in the community and at live events it just might change your life.
It has and continues to change mine.
I am so very thankful to all of you!!

I remember that day with fondness as well Daniel, one that will stay in the memory banks for ever :)
I still have hundreds more pictures to post as I took thousands at the event, I will hunt out the pictures I took of you and your sculptures.
Still the hairbands competition,
These are still the hairbands,
Still hairbands,
Thanks for posting all these photos - it is the next best thing to being there!
Quote from: "nippy99"it is the next best thing to being there!
I would think nothing comes close to actually being there Darren, it's a little like being at a care & share day with all the fun and excitement...... times by 10
The last of the hairbands and then we move onto the 3 minute competition, you get a set amount of time to make the sculptures but I forget how long.
Still the 3 minute pieces,
You are not allowed to touch the entries and I think it un fair that the balloons are not stood up or those making them held them for 15 minutes while people voted.
Some look completely different being held to thrown on a table.
More from the 12 minute competition,
I'm amazed at what some people can make in 12 minutes,
Plenty joined in with the competitions,
All from the 12 minute competition,
I made the two snails racing for my entry,
Still on the 12 minute competition,
Going onto the pajama party on the Wed night,
Nancy having fun at the party :)
Playing in the jam room,
At the pajama party,
More from the first night,
There were a few competitions in the jam room, I made the yellow dog and was waiting to enter it when the announced the winner.
I must have missed the entry time, probably too busy chatting.
Some go to town on their pajama wear,
The last pictures from the pajama party, the next will be from the class's on Thursday.
I started off in Stretch's class with insects and then moved along to see what Ralph Dewy was making with the hip technique,
From Ralph I then went along to see Sam Creemans and his muzzle head buddies, I think that was what the class was called, I'd better check though.
His class was very popular,
More from Sam's class.
More from Sam's class.
I was nipping from class to class and went back to get some pictures from Ralph's class again once he had finished.
Then it was back into Stretch's bugs and insects workshop to see the final sculptures, these were the three workshops going on at the same time.
For the first time Twist and Shout did not have the $5 per class rule, this was very handy for me to flit in and out and to get a taste and feel for everyone's workshops.
Last ones from Bugs and insects,
I looked in on Todd Neufeld's class and Irina with her flower garden workshop,
From Irina's workshop,
Lily Tan, now she was a laugh and excellent workshops. Swapping idea's, my dolphin for Martin's shark :)
Her workshop was very popular and pretty full.
There were tips on artwork, I only quickly looked in on John Watkins workshops about improving your income and how to get more work.
Quote from: "Graham Lee"There were tips on artwork, I only quickly looked in on John Watkins workshops about improving your income and how to get more work.
Super distortion. What balloons were make the legs?
Quote from: "Daniel M"Quote from: "Graham Lee"There were tips on artwork, I only quickly looked in on John Watkins workshops about improving your income and how to get more work.
Super distortion. What balloons were make the legs?
Not 100% sure now Daniel, how about trying a 260 for foot and lower leg and a 350 for the upper thigh and then do a 260 for foot, 350 lower leg and 646 for upper thigh.
I expect it would depend on what size sculpture you are attaching it onto that would also be a factor.
Lily was very funny and even roped Guido into helping her during the workshop.
Martin and his 3 minute shark entry into the competition, this is the one that inspired me to have a play with a few ideas on the shark.
Willie Monroe and the start of his workshop, I must look into getting Willie over to lecture in the UK, he has a wealth of information to share.
I think the batman mask was made in Stretch's workshop.
Willie Monroe's lecture was Balloon Magic for beginners. It was really good and I learnt a lot from the simple tweaks on basic magic ideas he has. Willie has won the T&S stage competition about four times - so he knows what he is talking about! :D
The next few pictures are from the costume and dress fashion show,
There were two penguin costumes in the show,
This dress was in the costume show, I really liked this.
I loved the black dress, even more so when someone wore it, pictures to follow later of that.
There were some fun competition pieces.
I was lucky to walk around the dressing room where all the costumes were sitting before the evening show to get these pictures.
Debbie Stevens adding the last touches to her dress design,
A few more from the dress and costume show,
I did play around with Martin's shark design, Olivia will have to remind me what she thought the spot light was.
It was a funny moment but has slipped my mind at the moment,
The judges for the fashion and costume show,
A few pictures from the show,
It was a little tricky to get some good shots of the models walking down the cat walk,
More from the show,
Possibly my favorite dress of the event, the spinning top dress.
Glad the Vegas sign was there to get some better pictures,
There was a small break from the fashion show and then it was the costume show,
Some of the costumes had trouble getting up the narrow stairs to the stage,
It was a fun night, congratulations to all that entered.
Still on the costume show pictures,
There were two penguin costumes entered this year,
So many more pictures to post, I think this will take a while.
Some amazing ideas there Graham, thanks for posting!! ;)
The last costume caused a bit of a stir, it did light up as well.
Not quite sure how these pictures of the dogs got into the sequence of the fashion and costume show,
assuming something went wrong when I downloaded the pictures.
The better pictures of the costumes and dress's are coming up as they all came out and stood in front of the Vegas Twist and Shout sign.
I thought the dress could have gone into the fashion show rather than the costume show, I really liked it.
It was a fun night,
Little Red Riding hood was a fun costume as well.
I still have plenty more pictures to post from Twist and Shout 2015.
Still plenty more to go,
I wonder who this is filming me filming them, he he!
And someone with a big grin on their face, this is Sam if you were unsure.
The jam room full and some of my favourite balloon ladies sitting behind me at the Mark Byrne adult balloon workshop, Suzzete, Donna and Diana.
From Mark Byrne's adult workshop, it was not adult as many of us had thought it would be. Mark showed Monsiour Siegfried's hat design.
Stickers, you even love them or hate them.................and I ???? them. ;)
David Brenion and his rumble truck class.
Some of the competition pieces coming together for later on in the week.
Peter Johns talking about marketing in his workshop, Eric Wienstein getting his large sculpture competition ready.
The sign around the hotel promoting the convention, Lily Tan with her class and Ralph explaining how to make the helicopter blades rotate with the motor.
I think the flowers were from Lily Tan's workshop, Diane and her American football hairband and the balloons in the dark room.
The man sitting in the yellow shirt is Arizona Rick, not sure where he got his name from as he comes from Ohio :)
I have no idea what Jonathon and Janie were up to here, maybe someone lost a bet?
The start of Mark Byrne's workshop with what he does best.
Mark showing designs from his DVD collection, he was moving so fast it was difficult to get pictures of everything.
You certainly got your monies worth from Mark's workshop.
More from Mark,
I do like the dinosaur, very usable in the real world.
Its great to see some of the classes I missed! :D
There is so much going on you can't see everything. :o
The end of Mark's workshop and the start of one from Irina, I did not sit in on this one, just took a few pictures.
Every corner you walked around there was another sculpture to take a picture off, so many amazing models.
This is Robyn holding the mouth sculpture, she kindly sent us a big list of things to see and do in Vegas when we arrived a few days early.
Thanks Robyn, it was appreciated.
Todd Neufeld talking about making a show, the expression on his face in the second picture was fun.
David and Shanna talking about artwork, they had a very good camera set up for the explanation and close up detail.
The many models made for the face/drawing workshop work shop. The gun was just laying around and I thought deserved having it's picture taken.
This is Daniel, Fudd on the forum. He has a different style to many and I enjoy sitting and chatting with him when he has a few minutes.
More from Shanna's class on artwork.
And a few more.
Sam made the star wars figure from a workshop he was running, I did not attend this but popped in for a photo opportunity.
The next few pictures all seem out of order but it might be because I was flitting from one workshop to the other at the end to get a few pictures from each.
Steve and Olivia, Steve is great company.
Marcello, Antonio and Lily doing the pose.
I wonder what was in the drink me bottles ;) This looks like the early and late evening pictures.
Waiting for the stage show to begin,
The stage all dressed, the judges, Willie, Suzanne and Connie, all lovely people and friends and the audience.
Guido and Tawney had some very good jokes but I have forgotten them now, it was a fun evening though.
The first act I believe was from Israel, I did not write all the names down.
Guy Sheffer is this guys name!
Quote from: "Danny the Idiot"Guy Sheffer is this guys name!
Would you have all the other names as well Danny? There is one I remember ;)
This act was funny, they were pretending to be several different professions, the doctor resuscitating the monkey got us thinking about Steve :D
We then had the band with quite a few members.
I like to think the balloon world is a little forgiving when it comes to people getting up on stage to entertain them,
it takes a lot t get up in front of your peers to do an act.
The last two pictures are of different acts, the second is Peter John and the first was someone from I think New York.
Hoping Danny may be able to fill in the names here.
The first picture was an act exasperated with the mess left in the jam room, we then had an act from the UK. His name escapes me at the moment, I do remember that he was going to have a photo shoot with the dog the next morning and it went missing, someone took the dog and no one had a clue who took it :(
Annabelle Tan was the lady with the jobs.
Can't recall the guy from New York's name - sorry.
Wendy Leahy was the balloon mess.
Thanks Danny, I will get in touch with Patty and see if I can get a list of all entries, winners etc for the whole of twist and shout.
I did write everything down but have misplaced the paperwork at the moment, perhaps when I have a good tidy up I will find it.
The last from the stage show, the last act came on to film songs with different balloon sculptures and accessories.
Went over very well with the American audience and I enjoyed it as well.
This is Larry ans I loved his name badge, the start of the competition entries.
From the stage competition there were eleven entries.
Pictured above was a Japanese girl whose name I don't know. Then Arizona Rick, and Mandana Moshrefzadeh - who won 1st place and people's choice.
Also Andrea Noel competed too, no photos were allowed. She came in at 2nd place.
And then myself with the Giant Balloon dog - 3rd place WHOO! :D
The large sculptures,
This is Eric's large sculpture entry,
Eric's skateboard and Dustin's large entry,
Rupert (Phylias Flash) made the gambling scene and Mike Blumenthal the groot.
Jack Mattson made the fairy scene,
Matt Falloon made the mad hatter scene,
The handle in the sword had some nice detail,
The bike had some lovely touches, many enter all the competitions so run out of time or have to rush the last few hours as they run out of time.
So can anyone work out the last picture?
Still loving all of see photos.
I reckon the last one is a hermit crab or similar.
Quote from: "Areyouhappydad"Still loving all of see photos.
I reckon the last one is a hermit crab or similar.
It is where the scene is placed and with what the balloons were inflated with to make it work.
I will post more pictures tomorrow for the answer.
Here is the reason, and some un-inflated competition pieces,
More from the in-inflated section,
I liked the "And a child cries"
The chocolate & fruit house won the uninflated competition and was made by the incredibly talented Rie Hosokai from Japan.
Check out her website for more amazing stuff.... //http://www.daisyballoon.com/
I also liked the "...And a child cries", I believe this was by Todd Neufeld.
Some of the work and time involved in making some of these un-inflated pieces is amazing.
I had forgotten about some of these pieces so it's been nice posting them and re-visiting the twist and shout pictures.
The goldfish sculpture did move around in a circle,
for me the problem was the fish were swimming backwards although I do not think many noticed they were going the wrong way.
Still the un-inflated.
These are from the medium competition.
More from the medium sculpture competition.
A very nice Thomas design.
A few more.
This sculpture was interesting, a little like the channel four logo that eventually blends in to read the channel name.
Thanks so much for posting all of these! I looked at all of them in one sitting! Wish I could have made it this year! I'm trying to sort out how to make the rainbow headband with the balloons that just have a "Puff" of air in them. I can't seem to attach them without making a mess of it!
Thanks again! :D
Trying to post these pictures asap as I think I'm not half way through yet.
I was rather taken by the elephants, there were some problems if we are looking at this from a judging point of view but I went back a couple of times to view.
The sheep had some very interesting eyes.
Colin made the carriage that won the medium sculpture prize.
And my claim to fame with the winning sculpture was that I cleared the way from tower two of Harrah's to tower one where twist and shout was held so that Colin could carry the model safely through the gambling crowds.
More pictures.
Yes Graham was my minder through the crowds of gamblers, I cannot now remember Graham
I did give you 50% of my prize didn't I :D
Thanks for posting all the photos they are bringing back great memories, but also lots of photos
I am seeing that I did not see at the event, there was just so much going on every day
Colin
Quote from: "colin myles"I cannot now remember Graham
I did give you 50% of my prize didn't I :D
I look forward to the 50%, did you win 4 bags of 260's?
Okay Graham, you decide, 50% of my prize or one pint of beer
whichever you think is greater ;)
Quote from: "colin myles"Okay Graham, you decide, 50% of my prize or one pint of beer

I will sit and take a beer with you Colin :)
I thought the carrot car was a fun piece and would make people smile.
Some of the pieces seemed as though a whole can of balloon shine had been used or the piece had been over polished.
The laying down sculpture is a sheep,
From the medium sculpture competition and un-inflated.
I think this is the model Daniel needed a copy of.
Still plenty more pictures to put onto the forum.
It was difficult to get pictures of everything as there was so much going on. The last picture is the start of the Jason Sekonda distortion class.
This is Jason.
I was sitting at the back of David and Shanna's art workshop and one of the competitors for the fashion show, or it may have been Marie had run out of pink and white, a little ask and quite a few from the class had volunteered some stock for the dress to be finished off. What a lovely group of people those in the balloon world are.
This is Rupert trying to get me to donate my laptop to him after I had just given him my edding 750 ;) :)
Artwork from the workshop.
Todd with his second class workshop.
When I was making the shark at this point I thought it looked like a helicopter.
I just showed Andrew how to make the origami rose and caught them practicing. Daniel sitting at the back of a workshop and David's rumble trucks.
More of the rumble trucks.
And no David is not smoking a joint during the workshop :)
Last few from the rumble truck workshop.
Walking around the competition pieces again. This is Andrea behind her aquarium sculpture.
I went to look at the large sculptures when it was a little quieter so I could get some better pictures.
The picture Rupert used to make his sculpture,
Jason in his second workshop about upselling and making a general sculpture super sized.
More from Jason,
Rob hard at work on his sewing machine making some adjustments to his balchunas bags. Sam made the plane after sitting in on David's rumble truck workshop.
Playing with geo's and I expect I will never be able to re-create these shoes again.
A nice bright set up for the moving balloon artiste, more from Jason.
David and his Minnie rumble truck, Derek Wong made the princess with the distorted face.
The competition room.
Antonio and his balloon tie.
The banquet night, the food was very good.
The first picture is quick links being blown around in a circle, it was a nice effect, some of my winning raffle tickets.
Ted and Betty, Jason Seconda and the broken pump award and Jan Iiams.
We then went onto the awards section, I did make a note of all the winners in my twist and shout note pad but when we got back from America I tore all the pages out as we gave the note pad away in our February raffle competition. And guess what I have miss-placed all the notes I took while in America, oops. Hoping to find them sometime soon around the house.
I remember that Antonio won the 3 minute ad 12 minute competition, I believe this is amazing Scott but not sure what he won.
Willie Monroe in the red suit being part of the cabaret.
More winners but at the moment not sure what they won, now where are my notes?
Love the geo shoes you showed.
Quote from: "Thelma Levett"Love the geo shoes you showed.
Thanks Thelma, trouble is trying to re-create it next time.
I also remember Debbie Stevens won "The Gristy Award" in memory of David Grist.
Guido with the heart he made during his stage show.
I had a jam session on the Sunday morning with the guy in the first picture but un fortunately have forgotten his name.
It's an age thing? well not really, I have always struggled on names.
The second picture, there was a mistake made with one of the balloon competitions, names were put against a wrong picture and they were just making sure the correct award went to the correct person, I thought the two people involved handled it very well.
These are the winners from the un-inflated competition, Rie Hosokai, the lady on the right in the picture was placed first.
I think this is the small sculpture competition and from memory I believe Matt Falloon in the pale blue suit was placed first.
This is Niels Duinker who I had not seen since working in China a few years back,
I really enjoyed his 15 minute spot and thought he had an excellent way with himself and the audience.
The winners of the medium sculpture competition, Colin Myles won and Andrea Noel was placed second, will update third when I get the details.
The winners of the large sculpture, Dustin Query was placed first, Rupert second and Michael third.
The other picture I posted for Debbie Stevens was the award for winning the dress competition in the fashion show, this is Debbie with the gristy award.
The stage completion winners,
Dustin was awarded top twister of the year,
Betallic awarded the inspiration prize for the first time and it was awarded to Irina, all these awards I'm doing from memory till I find my notes.
So some may not be correct, waiting to get the full list from Patty and Royal.
All the winners in a final group photo.
Some pictures from the Saturday night after the banquet dinner, Rie and Colin, Antonio and Stretch, Danny.
Antonio and Rie, on the next post is another picture of them with Rie holding her hand out and pointing. I think a little too much drink might have been involved here.
It seemed funny at the time :)
Some lovely memories.
Olivia at the bar again ;) I thought the badge on this lady was nice, it read "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"
The jam room after the banquet, the last few hours.
Sam and Tristen, Steve making his competition piece for the last night, you had to use the same type of balloon, so Steve was working with hearts.
And the winner is...................
I liked the way the bike was held together and the look although this is not seen to good in the picture.
Breakfast on Sunday morning with Marcello and Danny and then some twisting with my ladies of latex ;) :)
It was a very enjoyable morning.
Diane and Diana, I could do that joke that I used earlier, double "D" :) Made me smile.
I'd better not say what Idea I discussed with Diane about her little snowman figure :)
I had not seen the astronaut design before.
Quite a few people popped along and joined in the jam, it was a fun Sunday morning come afternoon. Lily made her doll/princess.
Some artwork going onto Lily's princess.
A variety of items were made.
I think some had just come back from Matt Falloon's private class and were making variations on a theme.
We were getting ready to visit the pawn shop that is on the TV, Olivia was very keen on seeing the store in person.
Olivia made the little bird.
The finished medallion and on our walk to the car park, Steve was kind to give us a lift down the strip to the pawn shop.
Patty has just sent me the full list of winners and I think a link through to the sculptures on balloonHQ so you can see them.

Looks like the links only work from my email, does anyone know if I can add those links here without sitting and doing them all manually?
At the pawn shop, I liked the look of the bikes along the strip. They took a while to decide what the balloon medallion was worth :)
More from the shop.
We were in the shop for about 30 minutes and on the way out he was still wearing the medallion.
We then went out to eat along the road next to the Flamingo hotel, it was a very nice meal and a nice restaurant suggested by Steve.
This was the night of the no balloon dinner but we were a little late back from the pawn shop so when we found the restaurant they were in it was very busy and so so LOUD, you could hardly hear yourself talk to the person sitting next to you so we decided to go elsewhere and Steve's suggestion was excellent, there were six of us, Steve, Danny, Steve, Olivia, myself and the person who makes the naughty balloons and costumes, old what's his name?
Pictures of the meal to follow,
It was very touristy but nice as well, the road between the Flamingo and Harrah's I believe.
The light fitting of clouds looked very balloony, the window was open and a band was playing, for the picture they were on a break.
The pie was rather large but very very tasty, we did a few balloons after and it was interesting to see how the American's busked and the tips.
Playing around with a snail design,
Some people went off to see the Matt Falloon private class, well this is on the way back actually with all designs on the hairband.
Jamming away Sunday night at Harrah's.
Michael was very keen on adding lights to his sculptures.
The naughty monkey's, the next post is more detailed so look away if easily offended.
The naughty monkeys and Olivia recovering from a late night at the bar and red rock canyon. This was a great day out and I enjoyed it more than the grand canyon.
Pictures from red rock canyon which is only about a 20 minute drive out from Vegas.
The pictures do not do justice to the wonder of red rock canyon.
On the fist picture of the rock can you see the coloured spots :( Look closely as it is chewing gum.
Marcello striding out down the steep slopes.
I think we got the good picture of Marcelo jumping.
Jilly took a chance on the rock and then we were lucky to find the lost snails of red rock canyon, what were the chances of them being there on the same day as we were.
We were so lucky to see these and get pictures.
Then we found the elusive area 51 and saw a flying saucer that America have always denied. See we now have the evidence.
The buggies were different and the flowers on the cactus were very nice, lucky we caught them in bloom.
A close up of the buggies on the way back from red rock canyon.
We then went back to downtown Vegas to have a meal at this lovey restaurant that we had a meal earlier in the week, as they say you should not go back.
It was not as nice :( but the company was lovely.
A nice selfie using the mirror and a pretty posh easy rider push bike.
I loved the simplicity of the bike stand, if I get a few minutes I think I will make one.
Olivia and I had so much fun with the parking meter, it was a charity box but was next to a major road crossing so we we're putting money in and saying we cant believe we have to pay to cross the road. It was late at night and this slightly drunk person was trying to explain to us it was free to cross the road but Olivia and I were having none of that and kept putting our small change in. Probably does not read funny but we were there quite a time until we eventually believed him that it was OK to cross the road. A funny moment :)
The teapot, Willie, Olivia and I were at the bar and had between us about 7/8 balloons, we each added a separate piece or made a twist, then passed it on and this is what came out of it.
The sugar factory that Janet and her husband took us to on Tuesday morning the day of our flight out.
Inside the sugar factory, I bought a brilliant mug that I have been using at home.
I think my shake was coconut and mango.
My mug is in the bag, I will get a picture and post later. Being dropped off at the airport and making some balloons for the check in staff that helped us, we even got some free drinks tickets. We thought great but the flight from Vegas to LA was so short they were not serving drinks so we could not use but it was the thought that counted and we had a lovely 15 minutes with the Delta check in ladies, it was fun.
At the airport and what you would always see...........a car and light aircraft in the departure lounge.
Making some balloons for the people working in the coffee shop, we only had a few balloons on us now.
Our plane for the first leg, Vegas to LA, we are pleased now we booked to go slightly out our way with our one stop over ticket,
the other choice was New York or Chicago which both ended up with 3/4 days of delays due to the snow fall.
Here we go then......................the last two pictures from our Vegas 2015 adventure, the mug I bought from sugar factory.
It is really nice and chunky, one of the nicest mugs I have owned.
Thank you Graham for posting all these photos.
Some really great memories from a wonderful trip!
:D
