Hey James,

Just to weight in my thoughts. Take what you like and leave the rest. At any rate starting with Qualatex.com If you go there you can find the course material. The course pretty much gives you the basics. I would also do some research to see what is in your area. You can only have so many shoe stores in one area so to speak. And a business plan wouldn't be a bad idea. This will give you good knowledge of what the cost will be to start up. It is rather expensive to start and marketing is very expensive but needed. There may be a place in your area that can help you get started with a business plan.
A lot of decor jobs are done on site which means transporting equipment and supplies. Which usually means you need a van. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but, there are lots of things to think about.
Maybe you can find an in person mentor that lives somewhat away from your area that would be willing to share and help educate you.
If you have not done decor you might want to see if you can tag along and help out to make sure that you do infact enjoy the process.
Wishing you a successful endeavor.

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Prices

Hey Jow,

I'm in the USA. But, what I do is charge $ 1.00 per balloon. So if I do a hat and it's takes 4 balloons the price is $ 4.00. I figure that the easier balloons make up for the labor on the more complicated one. And or the ones with more twist.

Hey Rett,
That is in fact the case. And you really have to make the dress about 2 inches bigger then the original measurements. My Goddnes, I did another dress that I started at like 1:30 in the afternoon. It was to worn at a function I was attending. The dress shrunk rather fast. By 2:30 PM the next day it lost the 2 inches. However, we are talking about conditions such as no air conditioner and no where cold for storage. And it was a warm eveing.
I hope you try it. It is rather interesting to play with. Takes me 7 hours well maybe 6 cause I take to many breaks lol.

PS Graham........... next time I'm taking a picture of the back. Just didn't think of it at the time.
Remember a balloon a day keeps the doctor away. :p

Hi Debbie,
I just use plain old Sharpie Markers they come in a few colors and seem to work well.
No drips, No dry time. You can get them in different points meaning fine tip etc.
Hope this helps

Hi Rett,
You have to use a button system in the back so that you can unbutton.
Kind of hard to explain. They are ear twist. However, there is a DVD out by Debbie Stevens it was done in part by Qualatex. Here is a link www.aeradecovideo.com.
There are two dresses featured on the DVD. Not sure if Qualtex offers the DVD directly or not. I purchased mine through TJ Meyers I believe it was.
It can be fun. But, it takes about 7 hours for me to complete one. But, thats me someone else may be faster.
Best of Luck
