Balloon Chit Chat / Why Lab Coats?!?
July 27, 2012, 01:07:56 PM
I had a dream last night that I went in front of the Balloon Entertainers Governing Board.  The judges were harsh.  One of them, old and wrinkled, and quite scary looking, reprimanded me for performing in a shirt with a crooked collar.  He then told me that I shouldn't be performing in the colorful striped polo shirt look any more, that I needed to look into costuming myself in white lab coats.  Like a mad scientist, I suppose.  A kinder looking, but equally scary judge (think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future) told me that Wal-Mart had a line of cheap, but high-quality lab coats that would be perfect for me.

The only other person I recognized waiting in line for judgement was Buster Balloon, and he was the only one who didn't look worried.

I came across this on YouTube- A machine that vends helium balloons.  The automated process is something to behold.

For those who haven't heard, Larry Moss is working on getting another one of his groundbreaking projects off the ground.  This time, he's putting together a children's storybook, with all of the illustrations made from balloons.

Ho hum.  We've all thought about that, no big deal, right?

No, this IS a Big Deal!   He's doing it up right!  This isn't just a half-baked, uninspired effort, he's bringing in a professional photographer, carefully staging each shot, and making some AWESOME pieces for this book!  He has taken a few sample shots, and they are AMAZING!

So where do we come in?  Well....funding.  You can imagine the time and investment any large project takes, and this one will take some serious manhours to do properly.  Larry is hoping that if we believe in the idea enough, that we'll help make it work.  The project has been listed on Kickstarter.com, a site that helps artists find the funds that they need to make their projects a reality.  Check it out at:

....And I know that this sounds like an advertisement, but this post comes from my enthusiasm, not from any connection to the project.  I've made my pledge, and if you're excited to see this happen, I hope you'll chip in as well!
