Title: July Competition (Frozen Princess Wand)
Post by: Graham Lee on July 01, 2015, 11:35:10 AM
The complimentary bags of balloons in the orders for this month from qualatex balloons will have the balloons to make two princess wands, Anna and Elsa.
Final date to post will be 7th Aug and the winner picked out of the hat will win a balloon modelling DVD.

I will post the full instructions over the next couple of days.

Here come the instructions, in the complimentary pack you get enough balloons to make an Elsa and an Anna wand.

260 in Pale Blue and Purple Violet
160 white x 2
1 Anna heart print
1 Elsa heart print

Inflate the 260 and leave approx. 5/6 fingers un-inflated, twist a 3 finger fold twist and wrap the knot of the balloon through the fold twist to secure a couple of times.
Make five fold twists in all and try to make similar size, I gently squeeze the air along a little before I make every fold twist, less change of popping.

On my wand I had approx. 15 fingers left for the wand section. I then inflated the heart with a qualatex green hand pump with 8 strokes of the pump.
It was full so you may want to try 7 strokes to start with.

On the Elsa wand I posted earlier I did not have the bubbles underneath the heart,
the knot was wrapped around the 5 fold twists and then we made the 2 finger bubbles in the 160 wrapping them around as we went along.

on Anna, Inflate the 160 white and leave 7/8 fingers un-inflated, attach the knot around the 5 fold twists and do a 2 finger bubble followed by a 1 finger pinch twist.

I then made six 2 finger bubbles and stretched these under the heart and attachd to the 1 finger pinch twist.
Squeeze the air out of the 160 and wrap around the 5 fold twists, you then make as many bubbles as you can, on the one here I have fifteen 2 finger bubbles.
At the bottom of the chain of bubbles I then had three 2.5 finger bubbles and the 260 wand balloon wrapped around this section.
Wrap the bubbles around the 260 a few times to get the desired look you prefer.

And the finished Frozen wand, you may like to try a 160 in silver instead of the white.

Am I allowed to post a picture of another want I made? Also, I wondered if it might be possible for you (Graham) to post a picture of the back of the want with the pearl necklace effect?
Many thanks, pics up soon!

I just looked at the instructions and it would be clearer with an extra picture, not sure I have one though but will look.
Please post away a variation, perhaps on a new thread then it will keep the competition thread easier at the end of the month.......thanks!

I just posted a variation on the mermaid, may-comp-balloons-t9859-20.html (http://balloonchat.co.uk/may-comp-balloons-t9859-20.html)
changed the tail to a 160 and thought oh I wonder if it would look ok for the princes wand as well, you could add the Elsa heart and change colour for Anna as well.

I did 1 of each of the wands that Graham has shown, I prefer the blue Elsa wand to the Purple Anna wand but they are both rather nice.

Thanks Graham for the speedy delivery :D

Well that caused me a little dilemma. Martin your post went on for 8th Aug and on the first post it does state last entries to be posted on the 7th.
I did post last night at 11pm about any last entries as there was an hour to post..................
So anyway I had to make an executive decision and my decision was to put your name into the draw, so thanks for entering.
Could you please try to enter a little sooner next time  ;)  Thanks

So we had six people entered and Lyn pulled out the winner before she sat down to have her porridge this morning,

and the name pulled out was Rob, congrats again.

Rob has chosen the Patrick van de Ven DVD for his prize, will post out today, thanks to those that joined in with the competition.
Always hoping a few more will join in as we do send out quite a few orders every month, off to move this thread over from competitions to model of the month so it's a
double winner really with the little competition and then doubles up as another model fully explained with step by step instructions  :)

Well done Rob.

This is not an entry to the competition, obviously, as it is September. I was a bit delayed getting the picture across back in July so missed the deadline. Anyhow, Graham asked me to post my variation.

For the Elsa wand I used 1 pale blue 260 and 1 white 260. For the Anna wand I used 1 periwinkle blue 260 and 1 jewel magenta 260 which were inspired by the colours in Princess Anna's outfit.

These wands have been very popular at the couple of events I have done so far.

I will try your version Graham when I have spare moment soon :-)

A friend was asking about making a bigger design using both Anna & Elsa hearts so I quickly made this up.
