I did my 1st proper balloon gig. Well not my 1st as such, but 1st as in getting paid per balloon.

It was at a school fete. I took £72 in a matter of 2hrs..........I'm really chuffed....really chuffed.  :D

I like it better than doing magic shows. I'm a bit stuck though on what to say to people when they are waiting. You know, to be entertaining.  :?

Congrats Stevie-b  ...  I'm sure that the 'entertaining' side of things will come in time and with more modelling behind you, but people more qualified than I will tell you that.
It's just great that you enjoyed it and came away with a decent amount of £££'s.

Way to go,

Dave

That sounds like a good return for two hours, the more you twist & do gigs the more funny situations will arise & you can ad lib, although really there is no such thing as an ad lib just a well rehearsed act.

As you get more familiar with the twisting the more you will pick up on things happening around you that you can pick up on -

if you see a face painted as a tiger make a quick sword to 'defend'  yourself until you 'realise' it's a youngster and 'faint' with relief

things like background music can give you opportunities, a while back there was a Gwen Stefani record with lots of OOOOEEEE's and stuff in - I had the whole line singing along as I told them I thought it was called the Yoohoo song - every time the chorus came round I 'sang' YOOOHOO! and they had to sing back 'COOOEEE'  it was a spur of the moment thing but it caused a real stir and raised a lot of laughter - I've used it a few times in kids discos since

Apologies to Malcolm Malen but I have used a line he used at the Birmingham Care and Share - someones phone rang while I was twisting so I said 'If that's the invisible man tell I can't see him now'

Let the humour come to you don't try too hard to manufacture it
C\'mon Let\'s twist again...

Quote from: "Smiggle"Let the humour come to you don't try too hard to manufacture it

That is an excellent quote Smiggle,
as then hopefully the humour will come naturally & not be false

Another is to pick up on children's names before they get to ask for a balloon. The parents don't realise they have called their litttle ones by name at some point and by the time they get to the front of the line it's a simple case of 'Hello, what's your name ....... '?. I know it's and old one but is tried and tested.
Along with this is the 'how old are you?' following on with making 5yrs old into 55 or 6 into 66 etc.
If they shout back only 5 I then go to give them a high five (pretending thats what they want) or if they shout back 6 then go into the 'aww, you feel sick?' mode.

Fantastiche. this is putting my mind at ease. Thanks many times over guys, you're very generous. I guess I'm too impatient.

Thanks for the brain storming, hints, & examples.
