Most of the Bride and Groom sculptures I make are pretty static looking, just side by side, but for one I am doing later in the year I wanted to do something a bit different to that.

1. The couple are quite young, and she will be in a short dress, so I wanted to do a less formal setting.

2. I wanted to have rounds and draw on faces, rather than lootle style heads

3. I have always liked how Thelma uses feathers and fabric in her sculptures, so I wanted to try that idea

As I am not doing much now, I thought I would run through some ideas, which I have been doing during the week.

I have enjoyed seeing how Graham's designs evolve, so thought I would take photos as I went along, and post them here.

This is how the couple ended up .......
Kind regards
Kevin

I knew what they would be wearing, and their hair colour, so started like this, experimenting with different arm positions and sizes.

I decided 160s would be too skinny, and the braided base was tricky to stand the couple on, but had a start. I also found the flower on the arch was getting in the way.

Looking Ok here, I found out her hair would be tied back, so changed that, and made it gold, and I was happier without them holding hands.

I gave her a bouquet to hold, but not sure about his hands. In the last one his arm position seemed to make him look a bit at a loose end, as if he is saying "Why me ?"  :D

The couple liked the look so far, but wanted me to put a tiara on her to hold the veil, which made it easier for me.

I suggested having him holding a heart, which was an idea I had to start with, but discarded. (I was going to have a heart in their hands when their hands were together, but in that position it would not work as it obscured too much of their faces)

They liked that idea, and they suggested putting their names on the heart.

Still jigging around with the length of leg and skirt  :D

And here is the final version, positioned nicely, knots hidden or trimmed and with completed artwork.

I will remake it for the wedding in the summer.....hopefully nothing will change, but I would not bet on it  :D  :D  :D

Yes I enjoy the process of the balloon evolution,
so when someone asks what the cost of the model is they do not realise that sometimes the design they get is version 5 or 6 and the hours spent.

Thanks Kevin.

Getting the picture that's in your head out onto a balloon takes a bit of time and patience!! :)
