Here is the first vase of flowers I made a few weeks ago...
That's nice, a varied selection of flowers & the vase in black & white helps with the contrast
to the colourful flowers.
Graham Lee
Very good like the variation. I did a few 4 petal daisys for a neighbours child and just tied with red ribbon. (Yes her name is Daisy)
They towered over her.
I've got to master the weave.

Hi Fairby,
Just a suggestion to improve on your daisys, if you twist exactly the same yellow head again, and twist two of them together you'll have an 8 petal flower instead creating a nicer looking daisy. You prbably already knew that, if so please excuse me for butting in ;)

Cheers, I give it a go (I need more yellow balloons !!!) :D 8-)
I've just made another vase for a friend who is about to open in a west end show so I thought i'd share. Its not as good as i'd liked as I only had 260s so was quite limited as to the flowers I could make.
By the way can anyone guess what her favourite colours are?
Favourite colours?
How about green & yellow? Am I close :)

Nice Vase! Would make a nice gift or table decor.
I also use 160's for daisies like you have.
Daniel M
This is my first ever basket weave that I'm proud of.. I did it for my kid's teacher on Teachers' Day...
Nice one PT - I actually didn't use any 160s for this vase as I didn't have any in grey and orange, it would have been better if i did have as there are some lovely flowers in 160!
Having always been one to try something a bit different I did my first vase from a different weave.
I liked it and so did my wife and as it was for her that was very important :D
Here are some of my vases

Hello Cheeky Chops. Lovely Weaving and attention to detail. I am in love!!
What excellent weaving ;)
Michael,
If you ever do a DVD on Weaving, I would be one to purchase one, it's one I would love to have. I am awed by your talent every time I see your work.
Adding my first 2009 "wish" to my "WISH I HAD" list...

a cut above a dvd would be brill :D

I have just done this for my wife to take in to work for a lady she sits next to who is 60 today. Not as good as some  but I am fairly happy for a last minute request :)
Roger, that is a lovely flower arrangement! As for it not being as good as some... IMO, it's far better than many I have seen!

nice work Roger
Here's a vase of roses I did last year for a 40th anniversary.
TwIsT On..
I want to have a go at making one of Michaels vases above, the fourth one down in his pictures, silver and black. I can normally work out most balloons but I'm actually stuck on his middle section, can anyone offer any advice please?
I think he's done a (what I call) a double flat weave, so the inside will be silver and the outside will be black will give it a go tomorrow to see what I come up with, will post on here, great work so tidy.
Graham did the same for his dress.
At a guess I'd say it's a normal inner weave & then the outer weave is connected to the row below so giving you the downward spiral effect.
And another guess is that you have you to build the inner & outer layer together as you go.
Michael looks in now & again so hopefully he'll put us all right.
mmmm!!! I'm still really confused, but I'll mess around and give it a go anyway. I'll be trying it on Wednesday when I have a bit more time and will post a photo when I finish it. I'm hoping that Michael will log on before then and give us an explaination as to how he did it.
As I said before, I can normally work out most designs but this one has snookered me :)
Billy,
If you look at the dress I made here;
http://www.balloonchat.co.uk/viewtopic. ... s&start=10 (http://www.balloonchat.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=795&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=dress&start=10)
on page 2 when the pink goes around the skirt part instead of twisting into the same horizontal line move it down one row each time.
Ok I hope I have the right section of the right vase.
If so I think I have sussed a way to do it, even if it is not the way Michael has done it.
I first did a basic framework (gold) of a standard weave just doing a s large section then a small one I then wove the silver over the large bubbles.
Ps if Michael see's my clumsy attempt at his brilliant design I hope he will forgive me
When I get time I hope to have a proper go at the whole thing.
oops:
Thanks Graham & Roger, I think I can see how it's made now, I'll have a go later before trying to make the whole vase. Thanks again. :D :D :D
Hi, have only tried the weave a fewtimes but managed a sort of hot air balloon and arocket ship. sill question coming up, How do you do the base of the vase or dont you? I tried it from a starburst but it wasnt stable. Many thanks Sally bananans
Now that Saint Valentine is coming I have done a Vase full of hearts and flowers. I expect you like it.
dose anybody know if there are any tutorial's on these brill weaves by Michael Gjerek any info would be muchly appreciated
