Hi All

I hired a helium tank to try my hand at a small decor job and I had some helium left.   I am taking back tomorrow so I thought I would have a play tonight.  I wanted to make some flowers that were free standing.  I used helium in the hearts and normal balloons for the stem so hopefully the flower part would pull the model to an upright position without actually taking it to the ceiling.  Well I was surprised how much a small piece of balloon will weigh a helium balloon down.  At first the flower was floating too high but by adding an uninflated scrap into the flower where it would not be seen, it was possible to the strength of the heliums pull.  So the flowers just stood up here I wanted them and waved and turned in a breeze.  For once I have left background in the photos because you have to see the background to see how nicely they floated.  The nice thing about these is when the helium has lost its effect, the models are still ok to give away.  I think if I do these again I will use highfloat first so prolong the effect.  I would like to do a whole load of them all together in a big room and see the effect.

At a millennium jam a few years ago Adi made some amazing abstract creations & I made a few of these from Helium for my son in laws party & we had them all on the dance floor so as people danced the night away they were also playing with the balloons. I put some cardboard wedged into the designs so that as the helium effect wore off we just removed some of the cardboard so that the balloons hovered in mid air all night long, not sure if we have any pictures will have a look to see.
Thelma, how long did they float for?

It was just an experiment to see how it would look and as I am half way through decorating I  have put a lot of stuff in front of the drawer where my high float is.  So I just made them without anything to prolond the life.  I came down this morning and they were laying on the floor.  However because of the design they were still nice as a model to give away.  If I were doing it for real I definitely would put high float inside the hearts.  I tried the high float when I make the halloween chain with the witch holding the ghosts going up in the air.  They stayed up over a week.
