im hoping for a bedford rascal so i can kip in the back and make a cuppa etc. Unfortunately i have to have windows in the back so the graphics would have to fit around the frames???

You could get what they call a vehicle wrap but the down side is it's a lot more expenive.

I looked in to that prices started at 1200 + vat right up to 3000 + vat + art work so not cheap but looks great (like the sky vans)

Number plates is certainly one way to go; also because there's the option of having something subtle like 260Q or L8TEX only there's no Q available what a shame.  A good car for a balloon artist is a bubble car (eg new Fiat 500) but not much space.

So a 260S would be available, but only thoughs in the know would get it

A few years back I tried to obtain
H1 GLM or H12 GLM but the price was very expensive so gave up on the idea

I was lucky with mine because it's probably treat as a bog standard plate becasue it doesn't spell a name or anything. The ones which resemble names are expensive as you correctly pointed out.
