Balloon Tutorial & Help / Re: How do I attach a head?
September 28, 2009, 11:18:45 PM
Couple of ways,

1) wedging your 'neck' up into the back of the head, but any movement would cause this to possibly fall out

2) after your 8 finger bubble, come back with a 4 finger, a pinch twist, and then a 2/3 finger bubble for neck. wedge this 4 finger and pinch into the head (i believe i recall this is how don caldwell attaches his monkey head). To attach next to body, i normally find 2 pinch twists at top of body give the best support.

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: UV Balloons

We used to have these at work, and being a disco shop often got the opportunity to see the Neon Assortment under UV, as with all things some colours work some colours dont,

The Yellow, Pink, orange and Green are most effective, with the purple and blue not quite so.

You also have to bear in mind the amount of ambient light in the room diffusing the UV will cause less of a noticable change.

Depending on the application in mind will probably affect your choice of UV reactive, or Glow In The Dark.

UV will look good in a dark environment and will stand out nicely, but will require a reasonable of UV light to be at their best. But will continue to give the same 'glow' effect all the time they are under the UV.

Glow in the dark, need a light source to charge (i believe, similar in essence to fire exit/extinguisher signs and some childrens toys) and the glow will diminish over a period of time (variable over time 'charged'). I have also only seen these with specific designs (eg Qualatex Halloween Skeletons) on as opposed to a 'balloon' that glows, and found that the shape that glows is not normally overly defined from a distance.

Hi Yvonne,

There are a couple of ways of approaching this depending on the client you offer payment terms to. If they a corporate entity they would be used to something along the lines of...

All invoices are strictly 30 days. Any outstanding balance after this time will be subject to an administation fee of (Blah %, or Blah Amount). Failure to meet this requirement on a regular basis may affect the offer of any credit facilities in future, and will result in all work being on a pro-forma basis.

Although smaller companies may appreciate a touch of humanity to it, but would depend on the overall 'feel' of your invoices, as such you could use something like...

Loony Balloony staff need to eat too. As such we request all invoices are paid within 30 days, any outstanding balance after this time will be subject to an administation fee of (Blah %, or Blah Amount).

Website "Chat" Help / Re: Website Sales Spiel

Hi Fuzzy, thats down to individual interpretation, i only used 2 as that was the figure in the blurb that got me to writing this.

As said it isnt for any particular purpose so people are free to change whatever they wish.

If i can ask, what age do you think would be more suitable? And do you do anything for children under that age? (This could probably become a post of its own, might create it later when im home)

Wouldn't 'tube' imply a shape?  :D

How about 'these simple tubes of latex' ?

But then is tube the best word...

See its not easy lol

Pete

PS, have been trying to think of something similar for our other uses in other sectors not just Childrens Parties, anyone got any ideas?

Website "Chat" Help / Website Sales Spiel

I often spend my time at work re-writing product descriptions and sales messages for our website, and understand how difficult some people find this.

As such i was playing with some wording after looking at YvonneH's website and thought i would post it on here for peoples consideration.

Balloon Modelling is ideal entertainment for children of all ages* see their faces light up as our experienced twisters convert shapeless latex into models and sculptures as vibrant in colour as your child's own imagination; watch amazed as your child becomes a pirate, a princess, or the keeper of their very own balloon pet right before your very eyes.

Please note, children are very accustomed to seeing balloon swords, and other balloon weapons, but here at (Company Name) we understand that some parents consider these to be inappropriate. As such, if you would prefer these models were not made at your event we are happy to oblige.

*(Company Name) are interested in your child's safety at all times, and therefore advise that balloon models are not handed to children under 2 years of age. For these children (Company Name) are happy to supply (insert whatever here).

Any ideas or suggestions welcome, this isnt for any particular purpose or website, but might give some people ideas.

Hi Yvonne, how about something like,

Balloon Modelling
Max of 40 Children for a 2 hour party

Balloon modelling is perfect for children of all ages* and can be booked on it's own or with face painting depending on numbers invited and duration of the party.

Also what better way to attract people to your shop, product launch or trade stand.  Balloon modelling is a bright and entertaining way to draw customers into your store and are completely portable so can be inside, outside or both.

Please note that I do make balloon weapons, if requested, so if you would rather I did not please make this clear when booking. I am always happy to honour parents wishes in this regard.

* Loony Balloony are interested in your child's safety at all times, as such we advise that balloon models are not handed to children under 2 years of age.

Call me nit-picking but the first thing i would comment on is

Minimum age for Balloon Modelling: 2 years old

Followed immediately by

Balloon modelling is perfect for children of all ages

What do you do with children under 2 years? I know some people give away the thicker double dipped balloons or a small toy for these children, maybe use that to your advantage? Maybe tell them what you offer in these scenarios?

As for your pictures they seem to be fine, although image 19 is massive in comparrison to all the rest when clicked on.
