Picture Gallery / Piglet cake
August 23, 2012, 10:56:39 AM
Here is a Piglet cake I made for a piglet mad friends birthday.  Piglet design is Twistina's but scaled up to use 350 and 260 as I didn't have right colors in 260 and 160.  Is first time have tried to scale up a model, am fairly pleased although think could do better.

Rhian - would love to see one if you do one for your La Leche League group.  I am sure your waterbirth one could easily be adapted - I wish I had more blush balloons!

Cool we will definitely check out the stall (what a great idea having a stall) - I would love to come to a balloon jam but really not sure how my 1 year old and 3 year old are going to be in the evenings where we are staying and also trying to fit in a lot of catch ups with old pals.   If there happened to be a Balloon Jam in London going on that week - I would be able to see on the day if ok getting hubby to watch the kids and come but can't really line anything up in advance.    A trip to the stall though will definitely be able to work into one of the days though.

Picture Gallery / For World Breastfeeding Week 2012
August 08, 2012, 02:15:06 AM
Inspired by the waterbirth model and it being World Breastfeeding Week - for a bit of fun I made this model - I didn't really have the right colors or think enough about it from the start but went down well and is now sat on front desk at HQ of Australian Breastfeeding Association.

I am sure I read somewhere (but now fail to find) that someone has a stall in London somewhere?  Family and I are visiting London for a week 2nd - 8th of September and meeting up with our friends from Barcelona staying in central London, and would love to be able to visit a balloon stall with the kids (4 between us) and say hi too - for some reason in my mind is Spitalfields market which is great if it is because hubby and friend used to work round there so would have the added fun of checking out their old haunts.

Cheers,

Vic

I didn't realize we had this feature either - have sorted one for myself.  So much more to look at now I realize these albums exist.

Great - I also twist in the car - while kids are sleeping in the back they don't even wake if I pop one now.

Tomorrow I find out if my toddler will fit inside the unicorn!

Haven't had as much time with balloons as I would like recently but have done a few models over the past few days as is my sons 1st birthday and instead of party bags etc I am giving away balloons.

Several of these designs are from Twistina's Five Min pdf's.  For some reason I find videos hard to follow and love the paper format.

Fantastic -  is the image on the web anywhere I could share with some friends who are really into waterbirth/homebirth?  I do a lot of volunteering for the Australian Breastfeeding Association and have been working out how to do a balloon model for them - your pic has inspired me to get on with it.

Thanks for the review - this was one of my first purchases and as a new twister have found it great, really easy to follow - I really like the printed format rather than videos at the moment.

Yes that is my little boy, my 'balloon destroyer extrodinaire'.  The material is sewn onto the shirt but sometimes I have used iron on adhesive to stick material on.

I use the test swatches (8 in by 8 in - used for checking colours etc) to upcycle clothes with stains or slogans I dislike for my two kids plus their friends.

My other hobby is designing fabrics on a site called Spoonflower, and now I have been combining this with twisting to create some balloon fabrics from photos of balloon models (I checked with Twistina if was ok to use the cat as is her design).

&
www.spoonflower.com/designs/1169362

Here are some pics of the fabric and things I have created from the swatches.

If anyone would like to know more about how to design their own fabrics on Spoonflower,  or would be interested in getting me to design some fabrics from balloon models - please drop me a message.

My big project with this is going to be to do an I Spy quilt where all the fabric panels are balloon designs.   Although balloons are quite well represented on fabric,  balloon models are not apart from the occasional balloon dog you see, and there seems to be so much you can do with balloons I think can make some really cool fabrics with them.

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Support "Balloon Chat" DVD?

I think the idea of keeping it free is great (is quite impressive is free and without ads) -  I would say that the forum could be used a bit more to try get people to join BAG though -  as a new person on the site within the forum it isn't really explained what BAG is (I know it is on front page of site, but if you access the forum from a device using Tapatalk etc you don't go through this page) - and also more of an explanation of how it would work for overseas members .   It is already probably in there but is in various threads, and I think a sticky thread which isn't open to comments might work better (if there is one I haven't managed to find it via search).  I am on a different forum (non-balloon related) and it is in the main free but also has a paid element, that bit is quite well explained within the forum itself.
