Hi Guys,

Just spotted some early balloon magic mags on ebay:

Not sure if they are of any use to anyone. But just in case :)

(& no Graham they aren't my ones - I'm keeping those :D  :D  :D )

Balloon Chit Chat / Motorbike stools.
April 19, 2015, 11:44:52 AM
I thought I'd post some pictures of the stools that I used for the motorbike that I made the other day. They came from Argos and are from the Habitat Tam Tam range - they come apart into three parts, two cone like bits and a plate like seat to sit on. The bonus of this is that you can fit one bit in from the bottom, one bit in from the top and then use balloon straps over the top cone and under the seat to hold the balloon bike on.

Balloon Chit Chat / 3 quick(ish) questions . . .
July 04, 2013, 07:20:53 AM
Ok - here come the questions . . . .

1) Has anyone used a glitter spray on a balloon? is there a good make to use? (I want to make a ride in unicorn with a glittery horn)

2) How much is a reasonable price for a ride-in pony (the David Brennion design one)? I'm thinking £8-10 minimum - but non-balloon making friends are arguing that they wouldn't pay more than £5 for something that is likely to pop quickly . . . .
(The calculation at the Robbie Furman tour comes out at around £13.50 - Pam's equation in another thread comes in at £24.50, & the formula for products at a manufacturing company I used to work for has it at around £18!! confused.com!)

3) I may (fingers crossed) have a contract for hanging balloon models in a local childrens attraction. In order to make it work I need the models to last as long as possible - how long would hifloat and balloon shine increase the lifetime of the models? Does the hifloat make the modelling balloons to difficult to work with? Is there anything else I could try??
(I should point out that the contract would be completely down to the freebies we were given at the Robbie Furman tour! So many thanks to everyone who sponsored/organised that.)

Topic/Discussion Of The Month / VAT etc. . .
June 28, 2013, 09:01:56 AM
I'm just in the process of setting up!

I'm planning on doing centrepieces as well as balloon modelling at kids parties. But how does that fit in with VAT - would I need to charge it on the centrepiece can I charge it as a sole trader or do I need to start up as a company?

Blargh at it all being so complicated!

Is anyone else going to the Robbie Furman tour in Glasgow on Monday?

(Anyone on here obviously, I suspect that I won't be the only person in Scotland going ;-) )

Balloon Chit Chat / Gold 260Q
May 31, 2013, 05:14:23 PM
I've got my hands on some gold 260Q balloons . . . . Are they simply harder to twist or is it me? All my twists keep on jumping out! (slight exaggeration - but still frustrating!)

Balloon Tutorial & Help / Captain Barnacles Help.
April 28, 2013, 09:18:50 AM
Hi All,

I've posted my Capt. Barnacles (from Octonauts) in the picture gallery under C. He is attempt no 2 at the design, but is still quite wonky and drunk looking! As I beginner, I'm struggling with getting my bubbles the same size and getting my pinch twists small enough. Is it just those problems that are making him wonky, so I just need more practice or are there some tips that you could give me to improve the design?

Many Thanks,
T xx

Welcome / Another Newbie
April 25, 2013, 03:26:10 PM
Hi All,

Quick Intro:  I've been pottering around with balloons for a few years doing the basics (dog with variations & flower). But recently got asked to help out at an NCT fun day & decided to get some new ideas . . . I've now lost many hours to mastering (well attempting ;-)) various weaving techniquesok & new models. I fear I have outgrown my box of 260s and now want to add more types to it so I can play even more. Not least cos my nearly 3 year wants a balloon Octopod and Gup D (on land with claws and as a costume) meanwhile my 5 year old wants a unicorn to ride ;-) 350s if not 646s in order I fear :)

What's the best way to store all the balloons as the variety increases? I presently have a sectioned stanley box with the different colours stuffed into the different sections, but it gets very messy very quickly! (& my 160s are still in the bag :( )

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)
