Yes, one of the posters on the newspaper forum made that point too.  I suspect it's the availability of helium (or rather lack of) that is the bigger issue.

Just to let anyone who may be interested know that I'm going to start listing the items above, plus other odds-and-ends (16" bags, foils, plastics, tulle, organza etc) on ebay/gumtree this weekend, so please PM me asap if there's anything your interested in.

Thanks Graham.  I'm still keeping my hand in with the balloon modelling, so you'll not be rid of me that easily! ;)

Balloon Decor / Balloon Decor Accessories for sale
August 23, 2012, 11:04:24 PM
Hi all

After a few years part-time, semi-professional in the décor world, I've decided to hang up my hi-float and concentrate more on spending time on my young family, balloon modelling and my 'real' job (in that order!)

Consequently, I am in the process of selling off many of my 'décor' accessories, the remains of which are available for sale at very reasonable prices – check out the Qualatex catalog for 'price new'.

Walk-through Heart Frame (Saunders Displays – boxed/unused) - £75
Heat sealer - £50 (used once)
Mag pole* - £40
Multi Mag mover* - £20
Bag of ring magnets for mag mover* - £15
Large weighted base plates (threaded) - £20 each (4 available)
6' base poles (threaded one end) - £10 each (4 available)
3' base poles (threaded one end) - £5 each (2 available)
Rod adapter for base plates- £15 each (2 available)
Cool melt glue gun - £10
Glue sticks (for glue gun) - £5 (3/4 bag)
10' helium coiled extension hose - £40
Trigger valve - £10
Auto-fill foil outlet - £10
Tilt valve outlet - £5

Note
------
All prices exclude shipping
Items marked * are unused, but are unboxed or opened
All other items have been used lightly/infrequently
All helium attachments are BOC

These items will be listed on ebay soon, so grab yourself a bargain while you can!

Please feel free to pm me with any questions or offers.

Thanks

Balloon Decor / Re: Balloons dulling

Hi Michelle!

Fantastic decor!!  :D

There's not much you can do once the balloons start oxidising, unfortunately, and this happens as soon as they are inflated.  Being outside and in the heat will rapidly increase this process.

I believe balloon shine (or some car bumper/dashboard cleaners) can delay it, but you can't prevent it and that's an awful lot of balloons there to shine!  It may not be cost effective given the time required to do this for that number...

I have (or had, when I was doing decor) a FAQ section on my website where I basically tried to 'manage expectations' by saying that oxidising balloon were completely normal and unavoidable and was not a reflection on the balloons, as I always use the best ones produced (Qualatex).

I hope this helps.

Brilliant decor you've produced though!

Best wishes

Balloon Decor / Re: Balloon Inflator

Hi Michelle

I have dual split second sizer that I'm looking to sell, as well as an Air Pro counter top inflator.  They are both great pieces of kit and I would have been lost without them both.

Not trying to give a sales pitch here, and I do understand why you say when you're making money you'll buy a dual split - however, in my experience, I'd recommend buying a dual split as soon as you can as it is that which will enable you to make more money rather than the other way around.

I'm selling as I can't commit the time to decor anymore (I have a full-time weekday job, and a young family, and I simply don't have the time needed anymore to provide quality decor for what are primarily weekend events), but I am continuing with my balloon modelling work.

The dual split is currently retailing at over £880 and the Air Pro about £120, however I'll not be selling at anywhere near these prices as both items are 'used' (but in perfect condition), and will happliy do you a nice deal if you'd like to buy both together.

I have many other balloon decor items I'm selling, so if you (or anyone else reading) would like to see a price list please PM me.

I'm not sure where you are based but it may be possible you could collect or I could deliver...?  Anyway, feel free to PM me if interested.

Regards

Hi Dylan

To avoid any possible issues, you could direct people to warrenann's 3x3 Tak Weave video already on youtube...

Balloon Decor / Re: champagne bottle balloon arch
June 28, 2012, 11:10:35 PM
Hi Tina

Yes, we can certainly help, if you can give a bit more info.  That's what we're here for!   ;)

A piece I've seen a few times is the qualatex 'celebrate' champagne bottle foil with clusters of clear balloons coming from the top and arching over to the qualatex champagne glass foil - is this kind of what you're thinking?

Assuming it is, the easiest way to do this is to build 2 columns of 4 or 5 balloon clusters (in whatever colour you want the supporting columns to be, and whatever height you need these base columns to be) and attach the air filled bottle to the top of one column and the air filled glass to the top of the other.  You can then attach the clusters (representing the bubbles) to each other by the necks of the balloons, stretching from the tops of the bottle and glass and sizing your clusters of clears such that they form the arch when attached to each other.  You can do this by making the duplet at the bottom slightly less inflated than duplet at the top, so it natuarally forms the curve of the arch.  If you were using 11" clears as the bubbles, however, I'd definitely suggest using helium and some line to attach, rather than attaching quads together.

I hope this kind of makes sense (I know it's tricky without pictures) but please shout if you need a hand and I'll try to get an example picture together for you of what I mean.

If I've misunderstood what you're trying to do, again please just shout.
