Picture Gallery / Re: Pirates boat (ship?)

I'd appreciate instructions for the little ship please. It looks far from simple to a beginner like me!

Here's a pirate hat I did for a 3 year old's birthday:

Balloon Chit Chat / How do I move away from swords?
August 09, 2010, 07:02:09 AM
Hello,

I've done two informal twisting sessions at parties for 3 year olds and was just wondering how I move away from everyone asking for swords?
Do you ask them what they would like or suggest something?
I found that everyone wanted swords unless a girl was there with her mum then she might have a flower.

Any suggestions?

The scary thing is that I can't remember and I've only been doing it about 6 months. (or so I thought)

It was my daughter's 3rd birthday last week and she has a number of friends born in the same month. I had some balloons to twist for her birthday if necessary as we had an entertainer coming anyway. Turns out that having the balloons to get the party started was a god send. I quickly taught my brother how to make swords so we could both do that and I made flowers as well.

From that party, one of the parents asked my wife if I could do it at their party (my daughter was already invited and we were going anyway). She said yes on my behalf and said that I wouldn't want any money for it. She was right as I wouldn't want the pressure without a little more experience first.

Anyway, it occurred to me that I actually made a balloon flower for one of my daughter's friends last year so that must have been a year ago and not 6 months like I thought!

I still have no definite idea of what made me start but I think it may well have been youtube while I was looking for magic tutorials.

Welcome / Re: Greetings to you all

Well, it was pretty good. I set up in a corner and made models while the food and tables was set up. Helped keep the kids (about 3 yrs old) occupied.

I found I was making an awful lot of swords with the odd flower or flower bracelet thrown in. I also made two snails.

Still, an interesting start and I'll start a topic on the advice forum for my next steps.

Welcome / Greetings to you all

Hello,
I'm a new enthusiast to balloon twisting and have been twisting for about 6 months. I'm also a teacher and ran a balloon modelling day during my school's activities week.

Anyway, I'm interested in possibly doing some children's parties and have picked up some really good ideas from these boards so thought I should join!

I actually have a party that I'm going to this afternoon as a sort of 'unofficial' balloon modeller as it's one that my daughter is going to anyway. I'll let you know how it goes!
