Many thanks once again to a great couple for another great couple of days away. Linda and Bob for showing us some more ways to use the product we love, and giving us more food for thought. I was able to take some pictures over the course of the two days and will hopefully get the time to post on here later. It was great to see friends old and new as always, especially Graham & Lyn to whom I do owe so much. :-)

And because you can never have enough Graham!! :D

Balloon Tube Sunday, Camel. I have no idea how I have subtitles on You Tube, but they can be funniest things to read. I'm sure however that Graham normally makes more sense than this! :D

Now home from another great day. Not only picking up little things throughout the lecture but also meeting new faces as well. Thanks Graham for organising another success. And also to my second favourite woman for my golden bunny :-)

Balloon Chit Chat / 2nd Hand Floor Pump?
« on: March 02, 2017, 10:35:21 PM »
Hello all,

I have a friend who is interested in obtaining a 2nd hand floor pump, as she has recently hurt her hand or something, I did pay attention at the time she told me (but it was yesterday). Has anyone got one that they no longer need and would like to part with? I will pass on any potential persons onto her and she can then discuss with you the finer points.

Many thanks

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Technical Balloon Skills
« on: June 23, 2016, 12:50:32 PM »
Wow this is getting deep... I started off reading this and thought what a great question. Then got to wondering exactly what a double frumple twist was. Then as I am writing this forgot what a single one was :( . I'm sure it will come back to me in time (Must be my age). Even though I've been twisting for the last 5 1/2 years I still feel like I'm very new to the world. There is just so much that I don't know and so many things I've not done so in that way I still feel like a newbie.
As for the club I am pleased that everyone can join in and be a part of something special growing our art. I too haven't seen the cba test (thanks Danny) though I did know that there was one, as i'm thinking of moving into decor over the coming years and have been researching it a little. I think it's great that there are places for competitions but that there are also places where they're not needed too. Which I know doesn't really help but...
Techniques are something that I believe you pick up along the way. I have always tried to proportion any sculpture that I make and have learnt new things from doing this as much as from other people. If I pick up something new then I try to incorporate it into as many different things as I can. eg: I discovered recently a really workable shoe design and am deliberately putting it onto figures that I wouldn't normally have, a: to commit it to memory and b: to find out it's limitations. Though it's not really that technical when you put it together and break it down it's the order and sizing that makes it so. Thinking about it then in that light. Are a series of simple connections (which let's face it that's all twists are), which are put together in a specific order deemed as technical?

I don't know that I do, I remember being very pleased with them at the time but since I've changed them these ones have sort of fallen by the wayside. However the ones on here are easy to explain, though now a couple of designs out of date if that makes sense. below are a couple of photos that may make it a little easier to see.
