I have had a lady contact me from West Ewel (Not sure the spelling correct) near Chessington World of Adventure.  She requires a balloon artist for two hours 1-3pm Sat 20th.  The party theme is spider man so would like (not essential) a spider man model if possible, plus a normal selection for kids parties.

The contact number I was left with is 07738 019256

There are not many people who come up with totally new designs, most people in balloon artistry adapt what they have seen before and share ideas.  When I first started the designs were simple and the number of techniques were few.  Its totally un recognisable now to then so dont tell me the original artist of this Peppa Pig didnt use techniques, ideas and designs that they have seen and adapted.

Did that artist credit every one they were infulenced by, i guess not.  Once you have built it its your design as you will never be able to faithfully replicate another design in all details.  I doubt any one could sue anyone, just think of the basic dog that was cast in acrylic and the farse that caused to see how some people can get hot under the collar.  Better we work together and learn from our peers and 'masters'.

Having said that I wouldnt ever copy someone elses photo to a web site and claim it was mine, if I had been inspired by someone else and made my own, i would feel not issue with publishing that.

Brilliant, made better by its simplicity.  My intial reaction was I could do that, but know I cant, the orginal thought, timing and delivery just perfect.

Balloon Decor / Re: Stretched balloon tree - flowers

Quote from: "nippy99"Really amazing. This may seem like a silly question but do you make the leaves out of wire then stretch the latex balloon skin over the top?

You put the balloon over a wire bent in half then shape the wire inside the balloon, take a bit of practice, try goole or youtube for 'Fantasy flowers'.

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Do I need Insurance?

Tricky one but I would say yes, it doesnt matter if you dont charge you are still responsible if you do anything that causes injury to anyone at the party you attend and do the work at.  Imagine that a balloon you do pops, you dont pick up the waste immediatley and a child puts it into their mouth and causes themself an injury, the venue, party organiser etc would/could hold you responsible.

Many bodies cover you if you are a member for example I am a member of Nabas and I am covered, but you need a certain level of skill before you can join.

If you arent making money at your hobby it may seem harsh to have to cover yourself, but I did even as an hobbyist unless it was for family.  Unfortunatley we are in a culture of lawers chasing every claim they can get and it could be costly.

This may seem black but I am sure that many other members here will have a view.

Thanks Lisa, it was soemthing like that one if i cant find it I may have to invest in that.  Just going through the posts today you can see the difference a 'good' face makes in bringing the character to life.

Im sure Shirley Ray (who first got me serious about more than just the simple dogs etc) gave me details of the one i used to have.
