Picture Gallery / Homer Simpson
May 09, 2013, 07:04:32 PM
Recently had a Simpson themed birthday party and thought I'd have a go at the main man of the series. I have to admit to using Glue dots on this one to keep the hair on the top of the head on, however the side hair is just positioned and stayed where it was put. I decided to stop the model where I did as, I thought he looked great as a bust. If I had carried on I felt he would have been too big.

Really pleased to see these little games back on the forum,  though it's not a one balloon challenge this week. I always feel it's good to try and pick up new things while playing these games. I've been making this for a little while for children to wear on their arms as displayed. Though the idea is to copy the design as best you can there may be some without the required colours. If that is the case, please still post up your go at it as it's all about enjoyment. I've taken the photo from two different  angles so you can see what it looks like from both sides...Good luck :D

OK...this is not Dan posting, it's his other half!

One of my painting colleagues also makes fimo jewellery and is currently adding some really cute balloon pendants, etc. - would make a perfect present for a twister!

Here's one of the latest ones: http://www.etsy.com/listing/129600559/b ... ome_active

But also check out the rest of her items too: http://www.etsy.com/shop/katkraftuk?ref=seller_info

Picture Gallery / Skylander - Spryo The Dragon
April 10, 2013, 09:09:48 PM
With the Skylanders birthday balloons I've been doing recently, I came across an old gem. I used to love playing Spryo The Dragon and was really pleased to be able to have ago at him as a special request. What really made it great to do though was the head of the dragon. I've been working on a head base for so long and seem to be able to adapt it for so many different models. Hope you enjoy. :)

Picture Gallery / Skylander - Sunburn
April 10, 2013, 08:58:38 PM
I seem to have hit a little bit of a run at the moment with parties and the birthday children wanting Skylanders figures. I thought I would give Sunburn a do this time. I'm happy with the way he turned out although I think I would make a couple of minor changes if there is ever a next time to make him.

April 02, 2013, 11:24:11 AM
I just can't get away from the older cartoons at the minute, been asked to make some wonderful characters that really do take me back to my youth and sometimes as in this case..beyond. Hope you enjoy the little trip down memory lane too. :)

Picture Gallery / I'm a real boy!
March 08, 2013, 06:55:22 PM
A boy who won't be good, might just as well be made from wood. This model came about after a challenge set by one of the staff at the restaurant I work at twice a week. He really wanted me to make this for his daughter who's been under the weather this week. I don't really know who I enjoyed making more... Pinocchio  or Jiminy Cricket.

Picture Gallery / Predator
February 27, 2013, 04:15:24 PM
I was asked to have ago at making either Predator or Alien a while ago by one of my old school friends, that I have recently caught up with on-line. Never one to shy away I sat down the other day and threw this together. It does look much better if you open the picture up and look at it larger ;-)

Balloon Chit Chat / A Caring Community
February 18, 2013, 10:49:21 AM
Since joining the forum many moons ago, I have always found this place to be one of the most sharing pleasing places I have ever known. Some of you I even think about with more fondness than the kid I used to play with in the ball pit. But now I come to you. I humbly throw myself at your mercy and beg for your help...Anyone someone what are the answers to these questions about Buster Balloon. I knew the others but try as I might I cannot seem to find out these. Please prove you are smarter than the average bear and help me out, If you can and do I promise to make you a balloon animal when I see you ;)

2, What Restaurant made him famous?

4, What is Buster's YouTube channel called?

6, Who was the model that Buster first made a dress for?

7, Name all the models on his infamous DVD 4?

9, What is Buster famous for wearing during his act?

10, Name the book Buster reads on his facebook page and his famous tag line?

Did I say Please xx

Picture Gallery / Taz

I have been wanting to have ago at this one for a long time, but somehow always forgot to get hold of the balloons I wanted to make him with. Finally after remembering to get them last weekend I had a chance to play and finally put him together. I'm really pleased with the way his head had turned out, as it came together with the same shapes and principles as many others that I now do.  :)

Picture Gallery / New Kitty
January 19, 2013, 09:22:15 AM
Every now and again I find out that I have to make a special Hello Kitty for a birthday child :o and until now I have have been able to make something that seems to roughly resemble that seemingly dread creature. I decided long ago that I would much rather have a child ask for 'Predator' than Hello Kitty. Well that was until last night. I am really happy with the way this one turned out and think I may have finally overcome my fear.

Picture Gallery / Sonic
November 04, 2012, 10:59:08 PM
Sonic was always one of my favourite characters when I was younger and I'm so pleased that he is going to be making a comeback in a film about classic arcade characters coming to life after the arcade closes. Since he came out of hibernation around 3 months ago, Sonic has been a real winner for me. I've had 3 to make this weekend so  I thought I'd share one with you.

Balloon Chit Chat / Ideas...Or the lack of
August 08, 2012, 07:16:04 PM
This is call for help. I'm sad and confused. :(

I am lucky enough to be busy with work week in and week out, and am happy with the quality of models that I hand out. Every time I make something I always try and vary one slight detail on it to make each one special to the child or adult that I give it to. Not too much of a change but I may add a collar to the dog I give out or different wings to a parrot you get the picture. The recipient is always pleased with the result and they go away happy.

I'm sad because I feel like I am stuck for new ideas. A couple of months ago I came up with two fantastic designs for Sonic and Tails these two have really impressed a lot of people but are more 'show' pieces than actual 5-10 mins work. How do you get new ideas for things to make? I quite often lock myself in the kitchen for hours and look down at my apron with loads of colours and sizes and just can't seem to get any ideas for my next creation. What can I try to make next?

I've done the whole pulling a balloon out and just twisting a little then holding it up and seeing what I can make out of it. My answer at the minute always seems to be a mess. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how did you get over your 'balloon block'? Or should I just be happy in the knowledge that the recipient is always happy with the model?

In the beginning of my ballooning adventure ideas came fast and furiously, but now seem to be impossible to come by.  Arrrggghhh this makes my head hurt.

Picture Gallery / St George's Dragon & Inspiration
April 23, 2012, 11:33:04 PM
I had St George's day piece to make yesterday and decided to make the Dragon (I know what a surprise :o ). Having looked on the internet for a picture that I thought I may be able to replicate in balloons, I started work and what do you know 30 mins later couldn't believe what I had come up with. Unfortunately I was unable to get any proper photos, other than the ones you see below, but I have also put the picture up here too.

I wonder how many more of you twister's out there have tried to replicate a picture. How did you get on? Is it something you regularly do for a delivery piece? It would be great to see some of your work and the pictures behind it too.

Balloon Chit Chat / Balloon suppliers?
March 08, 2012, 10:50:59 PM
Can anyone help? Last week after the long wait from the states I managed to get hold of a set of Busters Dvd's. Now I'm pulling my hair out, as I don't have the balloons I need to have a go at some of the pieces. Does anyone know where in the UK I could get hold of 3ft lime and agate balloons? I afraid that if I can't get hold of some soon, I will end up spray painting one the kids space hoppers and using that instead. ;)
