Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Small quantities

Thanks for the great replies and I do appreciate your honesty Graham (for the record I have ordered from you and the service was fantastic).

The reasons behind asking is that I drove 20-odd miles to a 'local' shop yesterday and left empty handed because I refused to pay the retail price over the wholsale price.

Thanks Graham, you'll be receiving my order (albiet small) shortly :)

Balloon Chit Chat / Small quantities

I've come up against a brick wall trying to find balloons (namely 260Q's) that I can buy just a few bags of, at sensible prices. Mainly is the shipping prices that push them over the top.

I did find this website who ship via snail mail for free (http://www.click4balloons.co.uk/) but never heard of them before so reluctant to buy.

I know Graham is a great retailer but I just can order in the numbers needed.

Quote from: "Kenny"Thanks woblee!!. The 260 seems a bit quicker, and i like the way i get the outer shape of the face with the 260, but i suppose a 160 spiral would work well also :)

This is the one I made, it's sized to my adult head and uses 2 x 260 for the beard, would have done a 160 but I'm still learning and not bought any 160's yet.

Took me a while to figure out how to attach the buckle but love the design.

Great design. Think I'd prefer a 160Q spiral for the beard though

I did have a look on the Guinness website but could only find records based on speed or length.

Great achievement though.

How long did it take you all?

Balloon Chit Chat / First gig nerves
February 14, 2015, 11:58:10 PM
I did my first 'gig' today! I teamed up with my partner (face painter) for a children's 5th birthday party. It was only supposed to be an hour but I over-ran a by about 15 minutes or so.

There were plenty of nerves to start with and it was very chaotic but I survived to tell the tale. There were a couple of designs that I was asked for that I didn't know how to do (batman, minion) but I managed to steer the children round to something else. It's give me a few things to thing about to improve for the next time.

Most funny moment.... getting asked for some type of light sabre. After talking to the boy about what it was, all he wanted was just a single 260 blown up and straightened!!!!!! I felt like it was a cop out, but he loved it    But I suppose that's what it's all about, keeping the customer happy!!

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Sweet Cups

Quote from: "KJ Entertainments"I couldn't speak for all but the cups we use are called smoothie cups and they come in 3 different sizes. I am fairly sure that we use 12oz ones but as I can't lay my hands on one at the moment couldn't swear to it. We get ours from ebay and though this isn't the link to where we get ours (my better half does all that bit) hope this helps. :-)

Cheers Dan, that's the sort of thing I was after. Tempted to buy a few and see how they go on our Facebook page. Just need to get the pricing right though.

Balloon Chit Chat / Sweet Cups
February 13, 2015, 06:41:37 PM
What are the cups called that I've seen which can be filled with sweets and balloon attached to the top.

I wouldn't mind having a 'go' with them, does anyone have a preferred supplier?

Thanks in advance.

Kenny, I'm not a professional, but my other half is (in face painting).

She has her ups and downs too. I think it can be down where we target our marketing. You don't want to be in competition with the newbies so I wouldn't worry too much about being undercut as that's just a race to the bottom. Just have a look at who your marketing is aimed at and try and tailor it to those who will value your work.
