Hello fellow balloonists!  Just thought I would share a little gem with you all.....
Do you use 'balloon shine' to keep your twists looking fresh?  If yes, you probably know how expensive it is and slippery!

Well, try a car dashboard shine/cleaner.  It works just as well and stops the balloons from oxidising just like 'balloon shine' for less than half the price!  It is also less slippery too!

Hope you like this info  :D

Just to add to that, it's available in a spray can from the pound shop.

Only know that because I get through loads of the stuff, never realised it could be used on balloons, I'll have to try it

Not all dashboard/back to black sprays work, I use Simoniz.

Dear All,

When using a spray such as Simoniz do you spray it directly onto the balloon and leave it, or do you need to rub it in?

It depends what one you buy, some you need to rub over with a cloth, the simoniz I just spray on although it was a while ago I used it.

Thanks Graham - i hung two black balloons in my sunny conservatory 2 hours ago - you can clearly see the one I sprayed with the Simonez. I will see what they look like later today. By the way, avoid spraying any on a tiled floor! My conservatory floor can now be used for ice skating!

Yes I know  :D

Is it the bumper and trim shine? Or tyre shine?  I am guessing bumper and trim.........  Just bought some on ebay costing £7.50 including postage :-)

Graham is right not all work well and some are extrmely highly scented which I have found off putting.

I can confirm that  "Car-pride Tyre Shine" from 99p/Pound shop does the job fine.

Just spray on, no need to rub in. It prevents oxidisation and also brings back the shine and colour if oxidisation has started.

I would never give a balloon treated with the stuff to a child as it is a chemical that could be ingested if they put the balloon in the mouth. Also it does remain sticky on the surface of the balloon and if played with will come off on the child's hands.

A good side of it being sticky however is that you can sprinkle glitter on to the balloon to good effect!  :)
