We will be having some more work carried out on the forum on Thursday to make the site more user friendly for the search engines. All the links on the home news page will have to be re-directed afterwards so may not be working correctly for 24 hours while I change all the links over.

Hi Graham

While you are tweaking things, would it be possible to have links appear in a new window rather than leaving the forum site as it does currently? Only if other members think it would be useful, of course  :)   I usually right click and open links in a new windows at the moment

Yes this was discussed, we need to recode part of the forum template. This will cost me a few more pennies so I think It's better to get the forum more google friendly at the moment with my pennies.

Have had the work carried out today on the site, all the links in the headers have changed from just numbers to actual wording to help google etc.
I have been updating the links on the front news page this afternoon and evening, the only button that I can see that we have a problem with is the "board index" button that used to go back to the forum home page but now returns to the news page, will see if we can sort this out tomorrow but if anyone finds any other odd things happening then please let us know as we may have missed them, cheers.

All the work is now sorted, because we have had the latest forum template added to the site there are a couple of things that do work slightly different than before but apart from that everything seems OK. We have had some extra traffic to the site since Thursday which is good and a few new members.

Looking at the figures on the analytics site for the past twelve months the forum has had half a million page views, with over 56,0000 hits by 8,500 unique visitors. Not sure if thats good or bad but as long as the forum keeps getting higher search engine placements then hopefully more people will find us and the forum will grow.

The next thing that will be added is a google webmaster sitemap which automatically tells google when we have added pages onto the forum, but that will have to wait till next year now.

I keep getting logged out every so often. Not all the time, just every couple of days.

Also, when I click on 'board index' to go back to the . . . . board index, it takes me to the home page, is it just me or does anyone else have these problems?

I too get sent back to the home page when I use the board index button

Hi all, yes we did look into the board index going back to the home page and it seems it's one of those odd things with the new template. You just need to hit the forum button below the smiley face and this will take you back to the index page.
Others that have had problems with being logged out have found it to be something to do with cookies and cache.

I had a LOT of problems with being logged off. In fact, it stopped me posting altogether. I needed maybe 5 or 10 loggin attempts and then often got chucked out before I'd composed my messgae. Frustrating in the extreme! I don't think it is just this forum because it happened to me on one other forum too.

I believce it is connected to Windows Vista cookies but is a very dificult problem to sort. Trouble is Vista prevents access to your cookies, you can't delete individual ones or even look at them like you could in Windows 200.

My best guesss at a solution is to delete all of you cookies and hope! :-(
