Martin

Hi everybody,

I have been working to develop a new site that will replace all the different sites I have been maintaining for my balloons

It's not 100% finished but is now up at //http://www.balloonimals.co.uk

If anyone gets chance then I would really value any constructive criticism.

Thanks,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

Too me it looks like a nicely constructed site, says everything it needs to say and is easy to navigate.

In my opinion the main text being black is rather, ummm, boring. Maybe it would look a little friendier in a different/brighter colour.

Your header "baLLOONiMaLS" is a mixure of upper and lower case letters, I feel that the first letter ought to be a "B" as oppose to a "b" as it appears out of proportion with the rest of the word.

Not so sure about the use of colour popping, it works well on some photos but not so well on others.

I'm by no means an expert but I hope my comments are useful to you.

Cheers
Rob

Very useful feedback Rob thanks. I will be acting on most of it.

My logo that is a mix of upper and lowercase (baLLOONiMaLS) is just the way that particular font works, not something I have done purposefully. I've used it for a few years now and so that is the only bit of your feedback I can't look to use.

Thanks for taking the time.
Martin.

Hi Martin

Great site - I really like the first page as it is very clear at a single glance the range of products you offer, how good your work is and lovely real world examples of people holding your creations. My worry would be in the name 'balloonimals' as this is easily mistaken for balloonanimals and that means someone else gets your potential customer traffic.

My thoughts would be it would be much better to have a uniform background for each individual model photo. This way it is easily identified as yours and also looks better and more professional. Also i would have the thumbnails of the same shape and size, ie, all portrait or all landscape.

The comment must go...

Quote"A few years ago I was searching the internet ahead of a family birthday party for "one of those guys that does balloons". I didn't book anyone that day but I did decide that it would be a cool thing to be able to do and so I bought some balloons and learnt to make a basic dog."

Why do I need to book you when I can do the same? I know you are just giving a bit of history and background about yourself but it just gives the impression that what you do is easy and can be found on the internet.

Are you a company that offers many balloon artists or when I book do I get Martin? I have always struggled with this but it isn't clear who you are trying to be. I want Martin, if I get someone else do I have a choice, are they as good, are other artists supplied just for multiple events?

All constructive feedback my friend, I may be right or wrong, but these are the questions that come to mind (p.s. not saying my own site is any better!)

Good job though - Darren

Hi Martin,

the site looks great, and I agree with all thats been said so far.

On the Decor page:
"Check out our décor galleries and then call us on 07812
195 615 or e-mail us at mailto:info@balloonimals.co.uk">info@balloonimals.co.uk"

It would be good if the phone number is all on one line.

I hope this helps,

Danny  :)

Love the colours Martin, very nice. I always think it's nice to have a landline phone number available as well as a mobile.
This text I prefer a different layout,

When most people think of
balloon modelling they
think of simple poodle
dogs and swords. At
'balloonimals' we can offer
something far more
exciting...

I dont like the way offer and of stick out to the side, just me but you did ask  :D
Would all the text look neat if centralised on the page with the same amount of text on each line.
Can your gallery pictures have a pink or green border as well to brighten them up.

Great feedback guys - this all gives me lots to work on and think about!

Please don't worry about giving me (constructive) criticism, that's what I posted the link for - I have lost most of my objectivity with this as I have been working on it for a while now all by myself.

It's really great to have somewhere like this to get so much quality feedback in only a few hours.

Any more greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Martin.

Looks great Martin, love the colour scheme you've chosen. Some great comments above.

Have you thought about 'Justifying' the text? Below is an example of what I mean from your home page text.
