I'm hoping someone here is advanced enough to help me.

I found a website with a small section I want to use on my site. I managed to copy the whole page to Frontpage and the managed to delete evrything except the part I want.

Basically, it shows a small section of the right top of the home page which looks like a 'book page corner' being turn and when the mouse is over it it shows part of another page. I want to use the same effect but with my oen design under it.

I hope this makes sense.

If you copy the script below into Frontpage you'll know what I'm talking about.

<br>
<script type="text/javascript">aff='49674';</script>
<script type="text/javascript">type='true';</script>
<script src="http://images.prezzybox.co.uk/christmas2008/AC_OETags.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="http://images.prezzybox.co.uk/christmas2008/pageear.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
</head>

<body>
<script type="text/javascript">writeObjects();</script>

Hi Billy, i have had a look at the code for you and can give you some advice on how to go about creating what you are after, however i have so far re-typed instructions for you at least 6 times and having re-read them have come back with more things to change, or stupidly long posts which are pretty meaningless.

So... my offer to you is i have PM'd you mobile number if you call me any time tomorrow between 10 and 6, after 7pm friday or sat and all day sunday, (else if you are unavailable at these times, let me know some times your available and we'll come up with a time for me
to call you) that your free and at your computer i will talk you through accessing his code and what you need to edit.

However the main problem i have come across so far is you will need to be able to create the page file animations in Flash, and although i can help you with 'bastardising' the code and making it work, i can not help with flash as i have never used it.

From what i can tell there are essentially 4 files in play here, 2 jpgs, and 2 flash files (one of each curled and one of each uncurled)

Unfortunately i cannot access the ones that 'Prezzybox' have created, else i would be able to provide you them and you could see what they had done and modify them. Maybe if you could provide me the link to the original webpage you found this on i could help further.

Thank you very much Pete. We've found out what is used to creat it but as you have aslo said, it uses Flash which I have never worked with either. I'll need to have a look into Flash or maybe try and get a web designer to help with that section.

Heres the link http://www.webresourcesdepot.com/pagepe ... n-pageear/

Thanks again for your offer of help Pete.

Hi Billy, i have had a look at the demo files that come from the link you provided, and reckon with now that i have them i may be able to help.

I learnt to use photoshop by taking our web designers graphics at work, and creating my own files that fitted in with designs he created.

I'll have a play with flash and the demo files and see how easy it will be for you to modify.

Im hoping everything you need is within the demo files that are provided, and we just need to change the base overlay image in each flash file.

I'll let you know how i get on.

BRILLIANT! Thanks Pete, you're a Superstar. I have been searching the net to try and understand Flash, but it's still looking quite confusing to me.

After many many hours, I've sorted it. I've managed to add it to my own site. Thanks for your help Pete.

Billy that is flippin' awesome.  Also I don't know whether to love you or hate you for posting that link.  I have just spent the last hour or so on there browsing all the different applications and I have no idea if I will be able to use them as I have never used flash and I don't really understand CSS or Java or any other kind of code for that matter.  In any event I now have a web resource for vector graphics that I should be able to use for my magazine which is fantastic.

Thanks Yvonne and Kev, I'm chuffed with it.

As it is now, it's a promotion, but I have other ideas to try after Christmas like promoting where my next public events are and things like that.

Don't be afraid to try working with Flash etc Yvonne, until a few days ago, I had never ever tried it, it was just a lot of trial and error with a test page until I got what I wanted, go for it, give it a try. :)

Must admit I am slightly reluctant to use flash as I have heard it can be slow to load but I may look into it as I think I am going to have a temporary site for a bit longer than planned as I want my new one to go live when I am sure it is everything I want it to be which I think may involve a lot of playing over Christmas!

Hi Billy, glad to see you got it working. It looks great to!

Sorry i wasnt able to get a response to you yesterday, i played around for a bit in the afternoon, then had to stop to plan an evening for my Boys Brigade company, was there from 6 til 10, then to my brothers who's house was broken into while he was dropping his kids off at BB, finally got home in the early hours of the morning, then at work all day today, and come home planning to get you a working example and find you'd beaten me to it.

Anyways, all the best

That is cool. I have seen our newspaper use that script and wanted to use it on my site. Would you share how you figured out the script. What software did you use.

Thanks

An update on how the 'corner promotion' went . . . . . I took four bookings via this offer. Four bookings at a cheaper 'x' price is better than none at the 'full' price. I think it was worth trying. :)
